    Photovision DT24011 Reviews

24" One Shot Digital Target is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works I use this with a D 300, and it works great. The only thing I did not see explained in the video or anywhere else is actually setting the white balance to the grey in the middle of the target first, then expose all three for a fine tuned white balance. If you dont do this, and say your camera white balance is set to incandescent lighting, you will end up with that white balance still, even if you shoot outdoors. It does ok in auto. But it works better if you start with the gray card first. If you just need it for getting all the highlights you can, and already like your white balance settings, then you can skip using the grey center.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multipurpose tool I use this primarily for video but it was designed for still photographers to white balance the camera. Comes with an instructional video. You can carry white or grey cards to accomplish the same thing this product does, but you get white, black, grey and a reflector in one device. I use mine for color correcting in post by using the color picker to identify the relevant colors in the scene. Much better than guessing. 24 inches seems enormous but the bigger size is helpful in the field; you wont have to zoom in or get closer to the subject to see the target.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very handy time saver. Until I bought this I would always set the white balance manually using the cameras built in settings. Exposure, well that's why cameras have thumb wheels right? Believe me, this device can save you a lot of time by getting the picture as close to right as possible the first time with less fiddling in post. I liked it so much I also bought the six inch version for when I'm traveling light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Shot Digital Target - perfect The 24 One Shot Digital Target by PhotoVision is exactly what you expect it to be from the description. It works great and folds up nicely for storage. The most amazing thing is the DVD that comes with it. Wow. I was really surprised. How interesting could it be? PhotoVision makes some good tutorial videos and I guess they wanted to take this as an opportunity to give you a freebie to get you hooked on their videos. One example of the DVD content is an exercise where the host walks you through setting up a custom white balance. But he does with with the target farther and farther away (filling up less and less of the camera's filed of view). After doing this I was amazed at how little area is used by a Canon 7D for determining CWB. Very interesting and helpful tips in a great bonus DVD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tool for Custom White Balance I have PhotoVision's Digital Target Bundle and have used it regularly. However, I purchased the 24 Digital Target as a compliment because I needed something that was large enough for use with telephoto lenses as well support medium distance (85mm primes) and teles (200mm primes) lenses. The 24 is perfect for any focal length. In fact, I purchased two - one for each gig bag. While it takes a bit of practice to achieve the ideal histogram, its well worth the effort. Now, when I set a custom white balance at the beginning of a shoot - weather its sports or portraiture - the balance is perfect and I rarely need to make any changes in post production. Why use AWB and hope for the best when you can use this tool and get perfect white balance every time and eliminate the time required in post to do the same. I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good product! I recently purchased this for use with a Canon 7D in video production and photography for internal work projects. It's a great white balance tool that is easy to deploy, use and then put away. The DVD that comes with it, while dated, does a good job of explaining how to use it. Having used it for a while, my only regret is that I don't have the smaller one - this one is great for use when you have a few moments to set up shots, but for informal use, the small one would be much easier to use without feeling like you're holding up anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great!!! I have used this digital target quite a few times now. I first use it to make sure my camera is accurately metering the lighting correctly (I check the histogram to see if I have 3 spikes showing.....dark, gray, and white). Then I take a shot to set up the correct white balance using the target and then I'm ready to go. It's very accurate and works great!!! It's handy to have along (folds up easily) and is useful as a white reflector on the back. I would recommend it highly!! It comes with a DVD that explains it's use very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tool for whitebalancing! I am a portrait and wedding photographer and I shoot on a canon 5d mark ii. Before using the photovision target I was using the kelvin system for whitebalancing and while I liked a lot of the images I captured while using that system, sometimes my indoor images weren't as spot on with white balance as I felt they should be. A friend and photographer I admire suggest I try out this nifty tool and I have simply been blown away by how quickly and effectively it works! I have made using it apart of my portrait session/wedding day workflow and it really doesn't take up that much extra time to set my white balance using it and the best part is that it has saved me TONS of time in post processing because I am not having to continually correct skin tones and colors to be properly white balanced. I would 100% recommend this for anyone who is wanting gorgeous white balance is wanting to cut down on their editing time!
