Electro-Voice Sb122 Overview

The black Electro-Voice Sb122 is a 12" 400W passive subwoofer offering low-frequency reinforcement for full-range speaker systems in clubs, concert venues, houses of worship, theaters, and more. Thanks to the 12" long-throw woofer and large front vent, the Sb122 is capable of handling 400W of continuous power, reaching a maximum SPL of 131 dB, and producing a 52 to 145 Hz frequency response.

An integral low-pass filter allows the Sb122 to be fed from a full-range speaker without additional processing. Alternatively, it can be used in biamp configurations even with the filter on, due to the filter's transparency below 160 Hz. The rear panel offers parallel Neutrik NL4 speakON connectors for easy hookup to your power amplifiers. The lightweight composite cabinet features a socket for mounting a speaker atop the sB122 and a built-in carry handle for easy positioning and transport.

Excellent, but 1 of pair arrived damaged

I am a professional musician with 30 years of experience mixing sound. I bought this pair of EV 12-inch subs to replace a pair of Cerwin-Vega 15-inch subs. The C-Vs performed perfectly but the EVs were much less bulky and lighter by about a third. I was prepared to sacrifice some bottom but was reassured by product reviews that the EV 12s would surprise me in a good way.When I plugged them in and raised the gain, I was aware of severe distortion. It didn't occur to me to try each one separately, but rather brought them to a trusted local speaker shop, an authorized EV warranty center. They found one of the woofers rubbing badly, and were surprised it sounded no worse than it did. They determined this was how it arrived and EV warranty is paying for repair. I am glad it was resolved so easily as B&H had warned me this was a non-returnable special order. Later I held my breath as I tested the good one alone, finally raising the gain and the bass EQ to very loud levels with excellent results. I felt a thump much like the one I had from the C-V 15 subs, which is really saying something since it was just the one, with its mate at the repair shop. The 12-inch sub fulfilled my expectations very nicely.I also bought a pair of 8-inch EV ZX-1's to replace a pair of vintage 12-inch EV S-122's, again for weight and space considerations. The ZX-1's performed perfectly, with sound and volume better than the larger, older EVs they replaced.I have enjoyed many EV speakers and microphones over the years and this is the first time I have received a defective unit. As it was covered by warranty and did not need to used on a gig immediately, no harm done.

we use this sub woofer at church with 4 zx1 90 by ev its lightweight easy to handle it packs a low that could cause ur ears to hurt if too close. theres nothing not great about it.

I have a set of EV ZX1-90 speakers, will the SB122 subs work with them? And if they will, do I have anything besides cabling them together?

You will need a seperate power amp to drive the SB122 with speakon connections on the amp like a 800 to 1000 watts power amp will do any questions please Video Chat Pro Audio
