Sony VGN-AR720E/B Overview

The VAIO AR Series VGN-AR720E/B Notebook Computer from Sony is the perfect blend of mobility, style, and performance. This notebook PC will become the center of your digital entertainment universe, whether you're home, at school, working, or on the road. Perfect for the digital road warrior, the computer will help you get the most out of your digital devices. You'll be able to use the noteboook with digital cameras, video cameras, MP3 players and more.

The VAIO comes with software such as Microsoft Works for productivity and Sony Click to DVD for DVD creation. 60-day trials of Microsoft Office 2007 and Norton 360 All-In-One Security are also included. Bringing digital photos into your computer is easy with the built-in digital media card reader and you can capture digital video through the FireWire port. You can easily connect peripheral devices to the computer via the three installed USB 2.0 ports.

The system is powered by a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7250 CPU and boasts 2GB of RAM, 320GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive capacity, a Blu-ray ROM/DVD-RW Combo Drive, wireless Ethernet and a 17" Widescreen display powered by nVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT graphics. Windows Vista Home Premium is the platform that ties all this hardware and software together, giving you a great portable computer for the digital savvy family, backed by the Sony name.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7250 CPU
The Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7250 CPU is based on an architecture designed specifically for mobile computing; this processor delivers a balanced level of mobile processor technology and exceptional value in this lighter, easier-to-carry notebook PC. The dual-core technology delivers two execution cores in one CPU, giving you better performance than a comparable single-core processor.
Windows Vista Home Premium
The computer comes preloaded with the Windows Vista Home Premium operating system from Microsoft. Vista includes the slick Aero user interface, complete with the Windows Sidebar, gadget support, Flip3D navigation and more. The Home Premium edition of Vista includes the popular Windows Media Center application. This lets your computer more easily connect to your home theater and wirelessly stream media to the Xbox 360 or another compatible media extender device.
Widescreen Display
The laptop has a 17" high-definition widescreen display that brings your movies and photos to life with amazing color and clarity due to its X-Brite technology. The widescreen display increases the width of the notebook's display while giving the computer the form factor of a smaller computer, so it takes up less space on your desk or in your briefcase.
Blu-ray ROM/DVD-RW Combo Drive
The computer includes a Blu-ray drive by Sony. This drive allows you to play back high definition video on Blu-ray disc. You can also burn writable DVD, DVD-RAM and CD discs.
Home Theater Integration
The computer features HDMI and S/PDIF outputs. This lets you turn your laptop into a media center computer, allowing it to interface with the latest HDTV and surround sound systems. Standard S-Video and analog outputs are also there, allowing you to connect the laptop to almost any television.
Integrated Camera and Microphone
The integrated camera and microphone let you easily use the notebook to participate in web video conferencing. This is great for notebook users who participate in net-meetings, as they no longer have to carry a separate web camera with them -- it's built into the laptop.
nVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT Graphics
The nVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT graphics deliver realistic 3-D and 2-D graphics, delivering real-life environment and character effects. Movies and digital images are sharply rendered so you can supercharge your business presentations with crisp images and animation.
Digital Photo Import and Organization
The built-in card reader lets you easily download your pictures from Secure Digital and Sony Memory Stick memory cards without the hassle of connecting cables between your camera and computer.
Digital Video Capture
The integrated FireWire port allows you to capture video directly from a digital camcorder to your PC. The included Click to DVD software lets you burn your home movies on DVD for friends and family to watch.
Internet Access
AOL Trial software is included, allowing you to easily get connected to the Internet whether you choose to go with dial-up or broadband. This lets you get connected to the web and e-mail quickly so that you can see what it has to offer.
Virus Protection
The included Norton 360 All-In-One Security software comes with a 60-day subscription to help you protect your computer from malicious software such as viruses and spyware. This helps to protect your computer when you are browsing the web or reading e-mail.
