Manfrotto Super Boom Overview

The Manfrotto 025BS Super Boom features coaxial geared controls at the end of the boom, which permits movement of 180°.
The 008BU (a.k.a 3071B) two section stand has black painted aluminum construction, with wheels. The stand section supports light fixture loads up to 66 lbs (30kg), to a maximum height of 7' (2.1 m). The boom supports loads of up to 15 lbs (6.8kg) fully extended.

Double leg bracing provides extra stability, giving the stand more strength
Fitted with a universal mount with 1 1/8" (28mm) Junior socket plus either 5/8" socket or "pop-up" 5/8" Baby spigot
One leg section may be independently extended to level the lightstand on uneven terrain.
This stand and boom are black painted aluminum.

Great tool. Nice to be able to adjust the light without a ladder. I wish every pin had flat spots like this does to prevent the light from spinning. (Are you listening Matthews?!). I wish it was a bit heavier duty and able to handle a bit more weight. Maybe I should have bought the Mega Boom. This one will work for most of my applications. I also shoot on location a lot so I wanted something more portable than the Mega Boom.  I used it recently with a head (not a mono head) with a fresnel attachment. The fresnel is a bit heavy. Also, with mono head strobes being all the rage these days, like Profoto B1's etc. They are a bit heavy for booms. I've never felt comfortable using those on booms.

This is much bigger than the photo makes it look. It's really heavy duty and great to hold up my 6' Elinchrom light adapter.

Specs state that this boom extends to 8.8''. What is the minimum or closed length?

Not sure exactly but around or smaller than 40 I guess as it fits in with my case with 40 c-stands and arms.

Yes, it comes with a substantial weight, heavy enough to offset a large light head on the end of the boom. 15lbs I believe
