The Manfrotto 234RC Tilt Head was specifically designed for monopods. The tilt head features a one-axis movement which allows the positioning of the camera for a vertical format with the monopod in the upright stance.

This is the shortest (height-wise) and lightest ballhead-like thing that is serious equipment. Suitable for everything but the big glass. Smaller cameras often have the adapter plate running right-to-left. To get the nod-your-head feature of this head, rotate the plate on the camera 90deg to run fore-n-aft. A note about the Manfrotto plate - thick and solid, with a real turning-key, so it goes on the camera solidly, and doesn't tend to loosen. Very nice. Better to think of the picture than of what the plate's doing inside the quick-release.
ever since my first one bought ,, i like the mounting plate plus it is the same to fit on all my manfrotto tripods ,,so i keep spending more money on these because i keep buying monopods .. plus they are also 15bucks more now since my last purchase a couple years ago .. hopefully i wonna have to buy another one for a long time ... long time ..
