Rycote INV-7 Overview

From Manufacturer

Sturdy

This shock mount is perfect for small Diaphragm condenser mics. It takes up little space and holds the mic firmly. It's expensive but works well. I am using it for a Gefell M300 mic, usually for acoustic guitar. If the musician taps their foot while playing, the Rycote prevents the low frequency content from ruining the recording

That's what your mic will be in when you mount it to the Rycote INV-7. These work with a wide range of smaller diameter mics. We find these nice alternatives to the factory clips for the Earthworks QTC-50s.

Rycote INV-7 Audix SCX1-HC compatibility use? I ...

Rycote INV-7 Audix SCX1-HC compatibility use? I would like to know if someone here with the experience using it with the Audix can tell me how the mod was done and later how the shockmount is being used. Some people says that reattaching the lyre to the middle position could cause the microphone to receive sonic reflections from the excess length of the base carrier and the other way around is using the mount backwards. I would like to hear more commentaries about this before making a decision. Thank you.
Asked by: Mauricio
You have the wrong mount for the mic you are using. The Audix SCX-1 is 4.09" / 104 mm. The Rycote mount you have is for mic's that are longer than 120mm.

question

Does the Rycote INV-7 work with the Oktava MK 012 condenser mic? My Oktava is a fairly short microphone.
Asked by: David
The Rycote InVision is compatible with mics that have a diameter of 19-25 mm and 70mm or above in length. This will include the Oktava MK 012 as well as many other short shotguns and small diaphragm condensers.

Can this be attached to the Rycote Softie pistol grip?
Asked by: Larry
The Rycote INV-7 InVision Microphone Suspension can't work with the Rycote Softie Pistol Grip, because the flange is the wrong size. If you want a lyre mount with the pistol grip, check out BH #RYLMPG.

Is this a good choice for the Shure VP88?

Is this a good choice for the Shure VP88?
Asked by: Larry
No, the Rycote INV-7 InVision Microphone Suspension for Stand and Boompole Mounting is not compatible for use with the Shure VP88 Stereo Condenser Microphone. The diameter of the VP88 is 39.7mm at the front, which is the widest part, and 27mm at the cable connection, which is the narrowest part. The INV-7 accommodates microphones that have a diameter of 19 to 25mm. The VP88 already has an internal shockmount that is designed to reduce handling noise and stand vibration, so you could use the stand adapter that comes included with the mic for most applications. If you feel that you need additional isolation, you can try the Rycote InVision INV-HG mkIII Microphone Suspension Lyre Shockmount (B&H # RYINVHGMKIII), which accommodates microphones with a diameter of 19 to 34mm and should work on the handle of the VP88.
