Also there's an MPEG-TS option that I don't appear to have. Is that what the HDCA-702 is for???
Yes, the Sony HDCA-702 is an MPEG-TS adaptor that provides real-time encoding of HD-SDI input signals into an MPEG TS for output via a DVB-ASI connector. It encodes camcorder output signals to MPEG TS and outputs this stream via its DVB-ASI connector at the same time the camcorder is recording. The adaptor also supports output of HDV compatible MPEG streams from i.LINK connector to use with HDV-compatible HDD units and nonlinear editing systems.

The Sony PDBKS1500 is a software key designed specifically to work with the PDW-HD1500. The HDCA-702 is not compatible with the PDW-HD1500, it is compatible with PDW-700/F355, HDW-F900R/790/790P/750/730S and 650 series so I do not believe this will work. The PDBKS-1500 will allow support for SD codecs and upconversion to HD as well as adds IMX DVcam codec for recording and playback at IMX: MPEG IMX 50Mbps/40Mbps/ 30Mbps DVCAM: DVCAM. It also gives you the ability to output to HD while playing discs recorded as SD.

How can I tell if my Sony PDW-HD1500 deck has this SD playback/record card or not? I don't have any SD program material available otherwise I would just use that. Thanks-
