    Canon DR-E6 reviews

DC Coupler DR-E6 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! This adapter works just fine with the 7D. When you slide it into the camera body and close the battery door, the wire is forced out a small rubber cut-out next to the battery door, which maintains a good seal and wrangles the cable well. I use this for long video production shoots, and so far it has worked just as you would expect it to - it facilitates the powering of your camera from an AC outlet or a DC battery source on your camera rig, the latter of which I am using.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more loss of power The coupler was most useful when doing long exposures and time lapse photography. It allows the provision of an interrupted power supply for my camera when connected to a portable power battery source. Its use certainly makes astrophotography namely star trails photography easier especially when I need to do prolonged repeat shuttle release using a timer and not have to worry about the limited battery life of the camera that in the past resulted in the interruption and loss of the mutiple exposures required. I also spend less on having to buy replacement batteries. Overall, I would recommend the coupler to any of my fellow photography enthusiast that require a more prolonged power supply for their camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked with modification I bought this not to use with the Canon power adapter but to plug directly into my V mount battery. Unfortunately the plug on the end was too large for the battery so I hat to cut it off and solder it to a different plug. Having done this, the cable now works perfectly and I am very happy with it. I took off one star simply because Canon forces you to use this product with their own gear. A smaller plug would have allowed for an adapter to use with third party equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as expected Except for price, this is a five-star unit. I had purchased an ACK-E6 AC adapter kit from an on-line source, which presented the kit as new, in box, never used. However, the power cord was missing (not that much of a problem as I have a box full of miscellaneous power cords), but the cord that is intended to be bent sharply at the top of the battery-replacement module had tape on it, hinting at a possible problem. That rig served to get me through the writing on my EOS 5D Mk III book, but as I started the EOS 6D book, there was no power through the unit to the camera. I gambled that it was the battery-replacement module and ordered this as a replacement, which is now working beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rewired with my old 5d ac adapter!! Saved $80 by rewiring with my old AC adapter for the original 5d. I used my voltage meter to maintain polarity, and my camera (7d) has been running off of the ac adapter for three days in -40 below zero weather up in Barrow, AK.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works perfectly but insultingly overpriced It works exactly as expected (5 stars) but it is terrible value at this price (1 star). There are no surprises with this coupler as long as you realize it is not a power adapter. It is nothing but a battery shaped connector to fit the camera, with a wired connector to plug into a battery pack or adapter, which must be same voltage as the camera battery. If I had kept any old dead batteries, or could wait for another one to die, then I'd remove it from its plastic case and make my own adapter from that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DO NOT USE THIS if you own old 5D box I purchased the DR-E6 so that I could plug in my 5D MkII using the old AC-E2 box that I owned for my old 5D Mk I. The adapter plug that goes from the battery pod to the brick part of the adapter (from the old 5D adapter) is not the same on the new plug. So now, not only am I out $ for the plug I purchased, but I'll be out another $180 if I want to purchase the ACK-E6AC adapter that will actually work with the camera. I got screwed by Canon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Option... I bought this dumb battery to cut the end off and attach a power-tap connector. Save yourself a fair amount of money over pre-made adapters and connect to a v-mount/AB battery/Switronix to power your 5D all day long.
