Slik Sprint Pro II overview

  • 1Description

This gun metal-colored, SLIK Sprint Pro II Tripod with SBH-100DQ Ball Head supports up to 4.5 lb, measures 18.5" when folded, and includes a quick release plate. Each of its 4-section legs features an independent spread, a 3-position angle lock, and flip locks for fast deployment. The included push-and-pull, rapid center column is multi-sectional, which allows it to be converted to a shortened center column. This feature permits a minimum height of 18.0", or 6.7" when the center column is shortened. The SLIK Sprint Pro II Tripod provides a maximum height of 52.5", 54.2" with its center column shortened as well as fully raised, and 64.0" with the complete column fully raised.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate, which is secured to the tripod's ball head using a quick release cam lock. The head provides up to a 90° tilt for portrait orientation, 360° of independent rotation, and can be locked into place along its range of movement.

For added versatility, the center column is reversible, facilitating low-angle photography where an attached camera is positioned among the tripod's legs instead of above them. Foam covers on each of the legs provide a secure and comfortable grip while moving the tripod, and rubber feet help to enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces.

A nylon, drawstring bag is included for storage and transport.

    Slik Sprint Pro II reviews

Sprint Pro II Tripod with SBH-100DQ Ball Head (Gun Metal) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pack tripod for the money This tripod is not the most stable tripod I have ever used, but I have never seen one this stable that weighs this little! (it weighs in at 1.75 lbs with the ball head). I keep a small camera/day pack ready at all times for everyday field use when I don't want to lug my heavy gear around. I strive to keep a complete set of gear that is light enough so that I actually want to carry it everywhere. This tripod fits right in there... Perfect for long pack trips, or just day hikes. It sets up very easily, and packs down very small. If you want ultimate stability, go for something heavier. If you want a usable, light, small tripod for the field, Buy this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little tripod, nice and light This is the perfect tripod for traveling. Its light so that carrying it on hikes isn't a problem. The ball head and quick release clip allows me to position my camera so that I am able to get the perfect angle for my shot, but I can take the camera off quickly if need be. The tripod supports my camera well, and I am not worried about my camera hurtling towards the earth unexpectedly from a failed tripod. If it's a little windy it'll stay put (I shoot landscapes), but strong gusts of wind might blow it over. Then again, if it were heavier, I wouldn't want to carry it around as much as I do. It's a great tripod for the price, can't beat it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, light, quick setup, quick breakdow I picked this up before a bikepacking trip where I would be making a short DSLR film. Needed something small and lightweight, that I access quickly from the side of my back. It performed extremely well on that trip. The ability to remove the center column to get low to the ground is really valuable. I actually keep the center column removed, but bring it along, as I rarely find myself needing the extra height. While I haven't had it long, thus far I'm extremely pleased with the product. One note: keep an eye on the camera mount plate as it will loosen up over time. Just tighten it back up. Not really a problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy another one good value Very convenient to deploy. I use it with my new Nikon DF with short prime glass and my 24-85. It is usable with my 70-200 2.8 but great care must be taken and keep a low center of gravity with one of the legs front and center under the glass. Good for general shooting, landscapes, and portraits. It is much lighter than expected and fits perfect on my backpack. The only negative aspect is the black paint immediately chipped off of the quick release where it connects to the tripod and the release lever - no big deal. I also had a little trouble in high wind (20-30 mph) with movement but that is no surprise, use a bigger tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality for the price. I've been using my Slik for about two weeks now and couldn't be happier with it's performance. Especially since it's a sub-$100 tripod that weighs about 1kg. I've mounted a D5000 w/grip, SB-700, and either of my heavier lenses (10-24, 55-300) and there have been no problems with stability. The build quality is pretty robust for it's price range. The versatility is great for when i want to reverse the whole thing and mount my camera underneath for macro shots or make quick framing adjustments with the ball head. This tripod gets low. Really low. Like 2 off the ground low. The QR plate is also very small. Small enough to leave on my camera when not in use. The best thing is the size and weight. I strap this onto my Billingham Hadley Large bag and it's ready to go for a day around the city. I highly recommend this tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for travel I have the Slik Pro 700DX as my first tripod, it's stable tripod for my camera+big lenses but too heavy for carry on outdoor. Months ago had bought the Gorillapod SRL-Zoom with the Manfrotto 496CR2 for travel and street use, but never quite got used. I needed a tripod that is light and small enough to pack in a suitcase to use on trips or street. The Sprint Pro II fits the bill for my Canon 50D. The ballhead SBH-100DQ is a little small and I replaced it with the Manfrotto 496RC2. The SBH-100DQ now I use with my Gorillapod SLR-Zoom, it's perfect where tripod is not allowed. Glad I got this one!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Preferred older model Overall quite nice and well made but a little longer when collapsed than prior Slik compact model, but it does give you more height. Do not like the quick release camera plate since it must be very tight on the camera to avoid shake and is then difficult to take off and put back on the camera and therefore when not using the tripod I'm reluctant to take it off. The camera plate makes the camera unstable when on a flat surface. It does take some time to put the quick release plate on perfectly square. I would prefer to screw the ballhead on and off the camera (their old model)without worrying about the quick release camera plate, particularly since I often change to a minitripod which requires that I take the plate off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool Little Tripod I needed a small travel tripod but wanted something that would still support my MarkII5D with my 24-70 lens attached. So I did what another reviewer did and changed the ballhead. I now have this easy to carry tripod with my manfrotto 498Rc4 ballhead attached. When I come home from Italy I'll switch it back. I now have two great tripods that function the way I want for 1/2 the cost. I also purchased the reducer screw that allows me to go from a 3/8 to a 1/4. I'm a 135lb woman and this setup is light enough for me to deal with easily.
