The Space Navigator 3D Mouse for Notebooks from 3Dconnexion is a mouse designed to facilitate work with 3D software applications for notebook users. This mouse is two thirds the size and half the weight of its desktop counterpart, making it ideal for mobile 3D users or as a second device for those with a SpacePilot PRO, SpacePilot or SpaceExplorer in the office.

Unlike a conventional mouse, which is limited to movement on two flat planes, this unit supports effortless motion in all directions. Simply push, pull, tilt, or twist the controller cap to simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate 3D imagery on X, Y, and Z axes. This is the notebook edition of the SpaceNavigator mouse and includes an unlimited use license appropriate for commercial purposes, as well as full phone, e-mail, and online support.

Increasing or decreasing pressure with the controller determines the speed with which the mouse responds. It is compatible with most standard 3D applications and automatically recognizes such programs already loaded on your computer, including but not limited to Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, Solid Edge, UGS NX, and a host of other CAD and DCC applications.

This model includes (2) programmable function keys. When applications are pre-installed on your computer, the mouse will revert to default function configurations associated with each program. It is compatible with the following operating systems: Windows (2000, XP, Vista), UNIX/Linux, and Mac OS X (10.4.6 and later).

For Notebook Users
The unit's small footprint and included travel pouch make this mouse ideal for mobile work.
True 3D Control
Push, pull, tilt, or twist the controller cap to simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate 3D imagery on X, Y, and Z axes. 6 Degrees of Freedom (6dof) technology affords you effortless control.
The amount of pressure applied to the control knob determines the speed with which it responds.
Programmable Functions
You can program its (2) custom function buttons or associate the buttons with the default controls of the 3D application you are using.

Space Navigator 3D Mouse for Notebooks is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! A smaller version of the original Space Navigator, it is noticeably smaller, but works really well. It's comfortable to use, but just like the full-size version, the buttons are awkwardly located. The spring force on this notebook version seems to be lighter, and I haven't had any issues with lifting it off the table. (a problem I've had with the full-sized version) It comes with a travel case, and is relatively compact, but I wish it was a hard case so it wouldn't get compressed when in a laptop bag. I don't know if the mouse getting compressed is really a problem or not. I might be nitpicking the details in this review, but it's an outstanding product and I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works, slightly smaller adds problems I use the product for 3DS Max primarily and have been using the bigger brother for 4+ years now. Going back to grad school means I need a smaller option. Only problem is the decrease in weight makes it a little less easy to control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I use the 3d mouse in CAD programs, it is easy to configure, and responds so well although at first takes some time to get used to it. I think it is somewhat heavy for a 3d mouse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great SolidWorks Tool Easy to install and use. I had one similar from 3D connexion a few years back and the motion on this model is far superior. 3D Connexion really stepped it up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SpaceNavigator for Notebooks - CAD-CAM I've used a number of 3Dconnexion devices over the past 10 years and they always worked excellent for me. I wouldn't want to use a CAD/CAM or 3D application without one. This Notebook SpaceNavigator is essentially the same product as the standard SpaceNavigator, with a smaller & lighter metal base. The main control puck is exactly the same as the one on my SpaceMouse Pro (at work) and I can switch between them without even thinking about it. I bought this unit for home and laptop use. I have no complaints or issues - only the observation that since this model is lighter, it is possible to move it on the desk during heavy use (the bottom has a sticky rubber to help keep it in place, but it has less friction if it picks up dust & dirt from the desk). I'm very satisfied with my purchase. If you don't plan on traveling with your Spacemouse, I would recommend the standard / heavier model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I have been using one of these at work for over 8 years and I absolutely love it. I wanted one for home so I grabbed this one from B&H. Works great and is a little smaller and lighter for putting in a laptop bag. The carrying case is a nice feature making it every better for travel. B&H had a great price and the shipping was very quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have tool for digital 3D I must admit to being a bit skeptical when I saw the claims of huge increases in productivity with the Space Navigator but I have to say that it is completely true. I would estimate a solid 20% time savings working with models in AutoCad and Inventor. It also works in the 2d environment though the time savings are not quite as large. In my case, the learning curve was almost non-existent. It became very comfortable to me after a couple days of use and now I don't even think about it. The trick for me was to visualize the knob on the Space Navigator as the object I wanted to move and the rest just flowed from there. Do yourself a favor and slow down the speeds until to learn to have a soft touch on the knob. This will keep you from zipping your part into the next time zone. My only gripe is that I just set up a new computer and while there is a export/import tool included in the Space Navigator software it didn't transfer all of the settings. Other then that no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't work without a device like this. I use Solid Edge 3D design software and I can't do it without some type of 3D navigator like this one. It has a nice weight and something super grabby on the bottom to keep it from sliding around.
