Quantum Instruments Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery (US / Canada / Japan Plug)

For a portable power source for your speedlights, use the Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery (US / Canada / Japan Plug) from Quantum Instruments. This battery works with most shoe-mount and handle-mount flashes, including all Quantum Qflash, T-series, and Trio/Pilot portable flashes. The Turbo 3 has the capacity to provide 1050 full-power flashes for shoe-mount speedlights and 750 flashes for handle-mount units.

The product offers two outlets so you can simultaneously power a digital camera and a flash, or two flashes. Cables are secured to the battery via locking sockets so you don't have to worry about a cable falling out while you are in the middle of shooting. Compatible cables for Nikon, Canon, and Qflash Trio are available and sold separately.

The Turbo 3 is equipped with four LED status indicators for checking how much power you have left. Recycling times vary from 1 to 1.9 seconds, and it takes about three hours to fully charge the unit with the included battery charger. The product weighs only 2 lb and can be carried around easily with the included belt clip.

Features
  • NiMH batteries used for quick recycling
  • Non-included locking flash cables for Nikon, Canon, and Qflash TRIO can be secured with the locking sockets of the Turbo 3
  • Comes with a belt clip, and has fittings for an optional shoulder strap
  • Two outlets for simultaneously powering a digital camera and a flash, or two flashes
  • The internal battery can be replaced by Quantum Instruments at a nominal cost if desired
  • To check the Turbo 3 capacity when it is not connected, press the ON button until the LED display comes on. The gauge will automatically turn off after use

Excellent product. High quality. It does not come with a shoulder strap. That needs to be purchased separately.

Great to useless in no time...

I loved this charger when I first got it. I was disappointed that the Turbo SC didn't last very long, so I thought I would get the expensive one because, you know, you get what you paid for, right? Wrong! This unit works extremely well for about 2 years and then it is garbage. Never buying one of these again, and I neither should you...

question

Hi, I'm using D 200 for remote camera operation using TrailMaster 1550 to capture Tiger & Leopards in their natural habitat, I use MB-D200 (2nos of EN-EL 3e) battery pack but the problem is battery won't last for 2 days. So I would like to know the battery performance of Turbo 3 & how many days it can last in the field. Please advice me at earliest.Ashok

This largely depends on what settings are placed on your camera. However, this battery will power the D200 regardless of settings for one full day.

question

Currently, the EN-EL4 will give me about 325 to 340 shots at around 25 to 30 second exposures for star trails and time lapses. I know these things vary with application but Nikon rates the batter to 4000 regular exposures. How much longer can this batter last than 1 EN-EL4?
Asked by: Jim O.
Quantum does not list how long it will last with a camera. There are many variables. But the battery is a lot stronger than then an EN-EL4 battery. My guess is at least two times longer than what you are getting with the EN-EL4 battery and how you shoot.

question

Does it work with the Nikon D300 and the flash speed light sb-800? And which kind of cable I will need
Asked by: Anonymous
As for working with the products you asked about, it depends on if they make a power cable to connect to them. I had to purchase power cables so it could connect from this battery to my Canon 580 flash, and my Flashpoint 360 flash.

question

Will this work for the Olympus 900 Flash
Asked by: Larry
Unfortunately, the Olympus FL900R lacks a high voltage input for an external battery, therefore it cannot be used with the Turbo 3.

question

I currently have 430EXll Cannon Speedlight, is the Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery by Quantum campatable with this?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, the Canon 430EX II is not compatible with the Quantum Turbo line of batteries. It is compatible with the QB1+ battery (B&H # QUQB1P), though. You would just need the MB5 (B&H # QUMB5). Otherwise, to use the Turbo batteries, you would need to upgrade flashes to the 580EX II or 600EX-RT.

question

Hi will this Battery work with my Cannon 600 ex-rt flash and what kind of cables do i need for it please?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, the Quantum Instruments Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery is compatible for use with the Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite Flash. You would need to purchase the Quantum Instruments CZ2 Power Cable for Turbo Series Power Packs, B&H # QUCZ2, to connect and power the Canon 600EX-RT Speedlite Flash from the Quantum Instruments Turbo 3 Rechargeable Battery.
