Panasonic WV-SC385 overview

  • 1Description

Featuring a 1.3MP MOS image sensor, the WV-SC385 MP Network Dome Camera from Panasonic provides a maximum resolution of 1280 x 960 at 30 fps for HD video in full frame transmissions. It uses a 4.7-84.6mm varifocal lens with an 18x optical zoom to produce a 55.2 to 3.2° horizontal field of view, and full duplex bi-directional audio allows for interactive communication between the camera and monitoring sites. Furthermore, still images can be viewed on your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet via internet for mobile on-the-go updates of the area you are monitoring.

This camera features Super Dynamic and Adaptive Black Stretch technologies for wide dynamic range, enabling you to capture clear images with multiple lighting conditions in the same frame. Additionally, Face Super Dynamic technology ensures clear face images for identifying individual people. You can pan the camera up to 350° and tilt it -30 to 90°, enabling you to easily adjust the camera's view angle. There are up to 16 pan/tilt speeds which can be controlled from the camera's GUI, and there are up to 64 preset positions for additional convenience. Motion detection can be programmed for four separate detection areas with up to 15 sensitivity levels and 10 steps of detection size. Additionally, privacy masking in up to 2 different zones allows you to customize your field of view.

Alarm sources such as motion detection can trigger alarm actions, including SD memory card recording, FTP image transfer, email notifications, and an indication on your browser. The integrated SD memory card slot supports up to 32GB of on-site storage for manual, alarm, or backup recording. H.264 bit rate/client and total bit rate control allows for flexible network traffic management, and frame rate priority mode controls bit rate and compression ratio to provide a specified frame rate. PoE technology allows you to run one wire for both power and data transfer, facilitating a simple and neat setup. ONVIF compliance provides compatibility with a wide range of surveillance devices, such as an NVR or NAS, and the camera's GUI has multi-language options for further versatility.

    Panasonic WV-SC385 reviews

WV-SC385 1.3MP PTZ Network Dome Camera is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An all Around Great Camera This camera is about the best you can buy at this price for a PTZ. I have installed this in a dome outside. The sharpness this camera provides is outstanding. Very fast Pan and Tilt. The 18x zoom is amazing! H.264 provides very clear images with high FPS. The next step up is the AXIS P5522-E which runs about a grand more (even after buying a dome for this camera for outdoor use). This camera also has a higher resolution sensor. I let a friend do a review of the camera. You can read it here

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great camera - horrible firmware This camera has wonderful optics, great options like motion detection and tracking, but the firmware is so awful I am not sure I will use it again. I love the camera, but the company software makes it so bad to use. Maybe they will improve it, but so far they have not. Some of the buttons aren't in the right places and some don't work no matter what you try. Again it is a great camera! BUT, the firmware is horrible. I use Milestone and Viewcommander to record which helps not to use their firmware, but not completely and it is a pain!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very powerful, but has limitations I would give this a 5 for the camera itself. The zoom is amazing & PTZ is quick and quiet. I downgraded it a notch because the software is quite difficult to configure even though I've setup other panasonic software. The problem is that they use a different line of software for the WV line than the consumer models. Therefore I can't use one piece of their software to monitor all my panasonic cameras. I also give Panasonic credit for their cust support to resolve software questions. They were easy to reach on the phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good camera overall Great quality images but it does have a learning curve attached to it. This is the second one I bought. (Lighning destroyed the first one). A more comprehensive set of instructions would be nice and a more simplified software interface would be a plus. The pop up boxes that detail the various settings and options don't detail anything so it's a bit of trial and error to get stuff to work correctly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera Packaging was extreme, very protective. Fast shipping (signature required). Documentation is challenging (3 stars there), I am still working through the numerous options. Image (at various zoom levels) is excellent. Very easy to access images on phone (BB Q10) on local network, have not accessed successfully through cellular network yet. Excellent phone support.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WV-SC385 Super Dynamic HD Dome Network C Good quality hardware but the software interface is a bit of a challenge getting the system set up. I'm still trying to figure some settings to email image capture. This is used to monitor a vacation house. Very good images. Low light quality could be better but not a deal breaker.
