The B+W 49mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting when this filter is in use, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

This UV Haze filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    49mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from diameter may be slightly too large I have the greatest respect for the quality and workmanship of B+W filters -- I've used them for decades and I have over a hundred. Unfortunately, this model is very slightly too large in diameter, thus, bayonet style lens hoods (typically those furnished by camera makers) will not quite fit over this filter. Either that, or if they barely do fit, when you turn the lens hood to secure it, you will tighten the filter so much that you will probably need a filter wrench to remove it. This comment may not be true for all setups, but for Sony NEX and micro 4/3rds lenses, WATCH OUT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best UV/Protective Filter The Filter is very well built. I use it as a protective filter on my Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8. I do not see any loss in sharpness or image quality when using the filter. It is also very easy to clean unlike some of the filters from Hoya that leave a stain pattern when cleaned. The only minor gripe I have with the filter is that the rim albeit being slim has some unwanted thickness to it. As a result I cannot mount the lens hood on to the lens when I use the filter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not quite perfect I bought four of these filters for my new Sony E mount lenses, and none of the camera shops her in Dubai stock such small sizes. They are, no doubt, substantially made and excellent pieces of glass. Unfortunately they are so substantially made that the lens hoods can't be attached to the lenses while the filters are in place. In the end I bought Sony's own filters which work perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Quality! Had previously ditched UV filters and only used polarizing filters when required. However after buying the Fuji X100 I decided to give this B+W Nano filter a try and I was pleasantly surprised with its superb quality and how thin it was. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B+W never dissapoint B+W never disappoint. So easy to clean and stays crystal clear. If using on a Sony 49mm E-Mount lens. The ring on this filter is too big to allow the lens hoods to slide over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best For image quality and worksmanship, nobody comes close to B+W. The Xs line is their top end, combining the flare resistance of the normal MRC with the super hard nano coating. I leave one of these permanently attached to a Rollei35 without lens cap and after years of wear it still looks new. I expect this will be similarly spectacular. They're so tough I forget the microfiber and just wipe with a shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommended Since today's digital cameras do not really need UV filters and those are used more for lens protection, it's beneficial to choose a high quality one to avoid image degradation. This filter performs better than expected and does not affect the image in any measurable way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protection UV filters complete the weather sealing of lenses. After spending a lot of money on the lenses I purchased, I decided that spending some money on the best UV filters was worth the cost. Quality is first-class and seems to have no impact on my pictures.
