Key Features
  • Clear Protective Filter
  • Absorbs Ultraviolet Light
  • Reduces Bluish Cast of Daylight
  • 1x Filter Factor, No Exposure Change
The B+W 52mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes multiple layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The Nano coating associated with XS-Pro filters provides an additional eighth layer over the MRC, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

B+W XS-Pro UV Haze Filter Overview

The B+W 52mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features a thin brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. To further reduce the possibility of vignetting when this filter is in use, the filter ring's outside diameter is slightly larger than the actual thread size. This may prevent the use of some lens manufacturer bayonet hoods.

This UV Haze filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

filters in front of the front elements. Love B+W MRC-Nano filters to protect the front elements on my Leica, Hasselblad & Sony lenses. I won't buy anything else.

Every lens I own has a UV filter on it. Not only for UV filtration purposes but because replacing a filter is a lot cheaper than replacing a lens with a damaged front element. B+W makes quality filters and that's all I use.

Well made

The B+W UV Haze filter fits the 52mm lens well and doesn't seem to alter the image, yet provides protection for the front element of the lens. Reasonably priced.

question

Is this filter LESS durable that the version WITHOUT the additional Nano coating layer (66-66070222)? According to the information from Schneider Optics the maker of B+W filters: However, a surface structure in the order of nanometers would be mechanically extremely sensitive, if it could be manufactured at all with the required precision. Its cavities could fill up with very fine particles and their peaks could break off or be worn off so that the water-repelling effect is cancelled out there.
Asked by: Yuri
According to B+W, The nano coating is an outer layer of protection that comes standard with all XS-Pro Digital MRC filters. The nanotechnology based characteristic (lotus effect) produces a better beading effect with water making the cleaning of this filter even simpler and faster than ever before. MRC nano has an improved outer (8th) layer over regular MRC. That being said, non-Nano coated B+W filters still remain quite durable and you shouldn't have any issue in using them.
