  • 1Description

The VE278Q 27" Widescreen LCD Computer Display from ASUS is large-screen computer monitor with a wealth of input ports. You'll be able to connect it to your computer via VGA, DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI. The monitor is capable of displaying 1080p video at native resolution, and can also output audio thanks to integrated stereo speakers.

The display features a 10,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 170°/160° viewing angles, 300cd/m² brightness, and support for 16.7 million colors. It uses an energy-efficient LED backlight, which offers more even lighting than traditional CCFL lamps -- without the need for warm-up time. Its desktop stand supports tilt adjustment, and you have the option of mounting the display to a wall thanks to its standard VESA 100mm mounting pattern. It can also be secured via a standard Kensington security lock.

10,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio
The ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio dynamically enhances the display's contrast by adjusting the luminance of the backlight to achieve the darkest black and brightest white -- delivering lifelike images.

VE278Q leads you to enter a big and spectacular world of colors with support for Full HD 1080p video and an HDMI port.
AI Light for Brightness Optimization

Rich I/O Ports -- Allow Simultaneous Connections to More Video Devices
Embedded digital HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, enable connection with the most advanced graphic cards and computers. The DisplayPort interface also offers better support of multiple display streams, longer cable connection, and interoperability with other inputs, such as VGA, DVI, and HDMI.
Picture in Picture - Display 2 Different Signals Simultaneously
Need to research on the Internet, but a championship game is about to start on TV? The VE278Q offers PIP (Picture in Picture) function (via hotkey) and has the capability to display images of two different signals at the same time.
Splendid Video Intelligence Technology

    ASUS VE278Q reviews

VE278Q 27" Widescreen LCD Computer Display is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for the price I have this connected to my wife's 17 inch Macbook Pro via mini display port to display port. I tried HMDI and VGA but both of those seemed to be more prone to interference. (intermittent and subtle vertical roll on the screen) That may reflect the cables and adapters that I was using. The straight cable with no adapter seems to be the least troublesome. The resolution and colors are fine for what she uses it for, editing raw images in Lightroom. I have it set at 1090p which is the highest resolution her Macbook can output. Delivery was prompt and packing was more than adequate, as expected from B and H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent gaming monitor I've owned one of these monitors for two years now and used it heavily for gaming. Consistent, crisp and responsive display, various input methods and a truly spacious viewing area make this a go-to choice for monitors in the 27 category.Huge bonus too for Picture in Picture functionality. This is the main reason I again chose this monitor for my most recent build. The person for whom I was building the machine wanted to plug an HDMI from a cable box and watch football while doing computer work at home. This monitor delivered once again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simply awsome Asus monitors have been simply great. One of the most awesome monitors i've used in a long while. Fell in love with it since the first i got off the b&h shop. Always in need of screen space and tidy desk, I do mostly 3d designs and video and photo editing. Just what I needed, wide, light weight and very affordable. As a desk saver, I use the monitor for both my laptop and desktop. Vga to laptop and dvi to desktop with a quick view switching botton I can switch between my pc's while one is rendering, I work on the other. Its a must have.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great color but stuck pixel within days Pros: Easy setup, presets were adequate for what I needed (PC gaming / Xbox 360) I tried some custom settings found online but ended up reverting to the Theater Mode preset. Cons: A stuck pixel appeared on day 5. I called B&H and they are sending me a new replacement monitor and I will return my current one. 5/5 on customer service. Stuck pixels happen so I'm not too bummed. Looking forward to my replacement monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value monitor This was a replacement for a 19 Samsung Syncmaster which, literally, went on the blink and eventually died. I'd been happy with the Samsung as it was used as an extended desktop monitor for my work laptop. I really needed more real estate on the monitor than provided by the Samsung so that was a perfect reason to search for something larger. I did not expect to purchase a 27 monitor but for the money, it's exceptional value. I have used the monitor for only a couple of days so I have not checked out all the features but I will say that the screen clarity is outstanding. Definitely worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from economical monitor/tv This is the best monitor in its price range hands down. I liked the fact that it did NOT have SMART TV or equivalent functionality to connect to the internet, which in my view, is a waste of resources and time. Picture is clear, sharp and sound is ok. Overall then it is a great monitor for the price to use with a PC an/or Cable/ VideoGames

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic monitor - bright, crisp, clear If you're older, like I am, then think about this product. These are big, bright, crisp, and clear. I am squinting a lot less and making fewer typos. A particularly unusual and worthy feature of this model is it has all 4 hookups: VGA, DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. The way my graphics cards pan out, I have one each on VGA, DVI, HDMI. I just plugged them in, and much to my surprise didn't have to select input - each auto-detected. B&H does a better job of accurately listing the input ports, though the search sometimes includes ones that don't have the inputs you select. But once I'm reading about monitor X, I believe what B&H says. These 27 are my main monitors at my primary work desk. I'm an accountant. I have 3, got one used from B&H and 2 new. I see no difference between the used and the new one. They are replacing the Asus Ve248H (24) , which are also excellent, but I'm in my late 50's, and felt it was time for a bigger monitor. I'll find a good home for the VE248H's they are going strong. Not only are these crisp and clear like the other Asus monitors I've had, they are A LOT BRIGHTER: the difference between 250 candle-whatevers (the VE248H) and 300 (this VE278Q). I could even imagine that in some low-light settings, they would be too bright. I guess it's a matte finish, maybe a shiny matte. I don't see any annoying reflections when the monitor is on. I've had Asus monitors for years, and tend to stick to the VE lines. I've had some very inexpensive 21 or 22 from the VS line, and they seemed fuzzy. So I sought out a VE with lots of inputs, and there was only one - the VE278Q. The extra brightness was a factor, and I'm surprised what a difference it makes. They are just over an inch taller than my 24 VE248H, which seem to be the same exterior style. Unfortunately, there is no up/down maneuverability, and these just barely fit in the hutch under my desk. Although the difference in viewing is tremendous between 24 and 27, in place they don't look that much bigger - so far nobody's noticed that I got new monitors. There's a little overhang, but I could still fit 3 on a 60 desk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome quality with some minor issues I gave it 4 stars because picture quality wise is superb, really bright colors, for an xbox 360 is really works great. The speakers are sub-par but what do you expect, the only grievance i have is that the cable inputs are hard to see and connect because they are hidden behind the monitor really really well, hard to connect and disconnect things, other than that go for it.
