ESI U24 XL Overview

The U24 XL from ESI is an extremely small and portable USB audio interface that nonetheless delivers excellent results. The 2x2 device delivers analog line-level inputs and outputs along with digital S/PDIF connections in both optical and coaxial formats. The left line output can alternatively function as a headphone output when nothing is connected to the right line output. With 24-bit AD/DA conversion and support for sample rates up to 48 kHz, the U24 XL can deliver quality audio for DJs and remixers alike.

this may be the only item still on the market that converts regular (non optical) coaxial output as from an old DAT player to USB so that you can transfer files from DAT to hard drives, at least without having to convert them to analog and then back to digital. Was easy to set up and install the drivers needed.

This is simple to use -- plug it in and it does the work. I'm not doing anything complex so it fits my needs well.

Hello ESI folks, Do I correctly understand that I can use this device to take the digital audio output from my synthesizer (a Roland X7) coming out via SPDIF coaxial cable, and send it into my computer (a 2015 iMac, which has no digital audio input) via USB? And that in this case the U24 XL will do no digital/analog conversion, but just change the digital format, so there will be no loss of fidelity? Thanks much, Robert

This audio interface would allow you to convert the SPDIF digital from your work station out to USB, and keep the bit rate the same, so quality would not be degraded. .

Is this device USB Audio Class 2.0 compliant? ...

Is this device USB Audio Class 2.0 compliant? IOW, will it work on an iPad or a Windows 11 PC without installing the drivers?

The ESI U24 XL 2x2 USB Audio Interface is not fully USB 2.0 Class compliant. Driver installation is required for Windows 11 PCs. For iPad use the device is class compliant. However, you will specifically need the Apple Camera Connection Adapter.
