    Delkin Devices DDSS-SCOPE3 reviews

SensorScope DSLR Camera Sensor Cleaning System is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good and Bad I don't have the option to be able to send my SLR to an authorized repair center so I had to opt for the next best thing. I liked the idea of the optical scope to analyze the sensor but found the focus not to be right on (with my 5D3) and so this wasn't as easy to use as I hoped. As a result the best way was to shoot some cloudless sky and go back and review the footage/photo. I had seen unfavorable reviews about the vac so didn't even bother with that. The sensor pen is also a bit hit and miss and does still drop stuff on the sensor and also not really remove anything much anyway. The kit does come with a decent bottle of cleaning fluid and loads of swabs which is good as you do need a lot. The kit doesn't come with a blower and I found this to be useful after I'd used the pen to get rid of any dust that dropped in. Overall, 2/3rds of this product is not very useful. You are better off just buying a blower and plenty of swabs/solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved the day - and the camera Using a brush to remove spot from sensor left what looked like scratches on the surface of the low pass filter. Options were to send camera to manufacturer for new sensor assembly, send to an independent service company for an new low pass filter, or to try something myself. Bought this Delkin kit and used per instructions. It was the final tool, a small polishing pad on a stick, which eliminated the marks. Used this unique tool back and forth in both horizontal and vertical directions and the marks disappeared, confirming that these were not scratches, but disturbances in a film-like coating on the glass. Test photos showed elimination of artifacts these marks had caused.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Today I tried to clean a Canon 50D, using clean wipes each time, over-and-over again, but the streaking remains. I used eight wipes this time and still have poor results. I watched the Delkin video to make sure I wasn't missing instructions but that's the way I'm doing it and it does not work for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A necessity for every professional This kit is a necessity for any professional or hobbyest who wants to keep their camera sensor clean. It does the job with a few caveats. The manufacturer claims it works with every major DSLR. But lack of a focusing mechanism on the scope and a slight back focus issue means everything is slightly fuzzy. You can still see the dirt, just not very well. For $ I expect more. Also, the whole kit feels poorly made and probably won't last long with moderate to heavy use. I'll let you know. That said, it still does the job well. So 3 instead of 2 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WAIT READ ME 1ST. B and H considers this to be a consumable item, so once you open it from the packaging it's yours and you'll find yourself bent over. I read the reviews like most of us do and the good out weighted the bad so I thought. Upon opening up the product the sticker that's placed on the carrying case was pealing off, I should have seen that as a sign of things to come. The vacuum aka SensorVac is so cheap and useless. The Sensor Scope couldn't detect all the anomalies on my sensor and I have 20/20 vision. The Sensor cleaning Solution would leak out the side and not the tip of the bottle when trying to apply it to the SensorSafe Wand. Then SensorSafe Wands are not debris free, they have lint on the wands. I did all this in a clean area mind you. My camera had more debris on it after I used the kit. All said and done I had to take my camera to the shop to have it cleaned. I'm glad I only used it on one of my bodies. I never give reviews, but on this I just had to. Don't buy this kit, if you do make sure you can return it because you will be disappointed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'd skip it if I had to do over again Didn't clean most of the dirt off the sensor cover. The vac is worse than useless. The shining part is the loupe. To bad you can't clean using it to see the smaller and more stubberon pieces of dirt. The wands are pricey and didn't do a good job even after 4 attempts. Got one large spot off the middle so not a COMPLETE loss but left several on the edges. They can only be used once but they give you a polishing pen you can use over and over..that makes no sense. Especially considering it left behind a lot of black particles. I used my Rocket blower with the camera inverted and blew all of them out. I'd suggest the Rocket Blower over the vac any day. I'm still looking for a better solution for what was not cleaned by this kit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not thrilled I have two D3's and a D3S I wanted to use this on... I really feel like it was a complete waste of my money. The light is bright enough but the clarity was not sufficient to really see the particles. I did better to shoot the sky with the lens stopped down. The vacuum was broken and never worked at all. So essentially I paid a lot of money for some sensor wipes and fluid. I have Delkin card readers that I swear by, but this product was useless for me. Still can't figure out why so many people love this thing...????

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must Have For The DIYer I have a Canon T1i and I switch my lenses all the time, in all kinds of conditions. I have been plagued with the dreaded specks on the sensor. Yes anyone can clean a sensor with the right tools. This kit is awesome. I gave it 4 stars because the vacuum was not so great. As stated in another review, it put more dust on the sensor than what was there when I started. I found everything else in the kit very useful. Directions are very easy to understand. The scope is awesome, I used it for looking at my lens also. The swabs worked great and there are 3 sizes. The T1i used the small swabs. The pen tool is very handy and sized correctly for tight work area. In addition to the kit I used my rocket blower. It took several trys, stay calm and just keep cleaning using the swab and the pen tool and re-checking with the scope. Took me about 10 minutes and my sensor is clean. Tested the camera and the spots are gone. The kit comes in a very sturdy carrying case. This will be useful when traveling. Another great purchase from B&H. Side note: Shipping is so fast. Ordered one afternoon and was cleaning the sensor the next day at lunch time.
