Digieffects' Artifact Effect for Damage v2 is ideally suited for introducing system malfunction effects in your image. With accurate image decode and transmission error simulation, Artifact proves to be an efficient solution for image editing by allowing you to recreate effects that mirror data drops from satellite transmissions and digital video playback errors. You can apply Artifact effects from within the UI of the Damage v2 software.
You are provided with six different operational modes within Artifact, to simulate different types of errors. You can use the Normal mode to leverage all the operations within Artifact to create an effect similar to a digital VTR with dirty heads, or use the Burst mode to accomplish a similar effect with higher density. JPG Noise allows you to create the effect of inaccurately decoded picture information being replaced by insufficient color correction, while Blackout renders selected areas of the image completely black. You can use Shifter to create a more subtle pattern of a digital video decode failure, or apply random color changes to selected areas of the picture via Recolor.
Individual adjustment of image properties is also allowed via Codec Artifacting which includes manipulation of properties such as Artifact Amount & Frequency, Average Duration, Freezing, Downgrader, Downres. Factor, Re-interpolate Res. , and Lo-fi Color. You can adjust each of these properties to set the intensity, frequency and duration of the defective episodes and to choose the amount of Freezing frame stutter.
Simulation of MPEG errors such as hanging or blacked-out frames along with DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) errors is also possible with the Artifact Effect for Damage v2. With support for AutoAnimate, you can easily preview your Artifact effect without rendering. The Artifact Effect for Damage v2 is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.
