Blackmagic Design Studio 4K Overview

The DeckLink Studio 4K Capture & Playback Card from Blackmagic Design features 6G-SDI and 4K HDMI inputs/outputs which support resolutions from SD to Ultra HD 4K (3840x2160) and DCI 4K (4096x2160). DeckLink Studio 4K offers flexible format and system support, letting you work with compressed video formats such as ProRes and DNxHD, as well as 10-bit uncompressed video. When working with uncompressed video, all images are pixel-for-pixel identical to the source, without any generational loss. This lets you get sharper keying with green screens, cleaner compositions, superior color correction, and more. Support for common file formats provides ready-to-edit files for use in popular editing, effects, and design software applications. DeckLink Studio 4K is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux based workstations.

Seems towork OK

After a bit of concern with initial installation everything seems to be working. Premiere Pro users pay careful attention to how you define the card in Premiere. When I set it as the default output I would get a few samples playing in a loop when hitting stop in Premiere. BMD has an article about this on their web site. I added the BMD to Windows audio, set PPro default output to default and output mapping to Adobe Desktop Audio. Works fine. now.

Will it capture output from Sony DSR-45. I want to output the signal and upres to pro res. Possible?
Asked by: Tom
Yes the Black magic Decklink 4k supports Component, composite and Svideo with the included breakout cable. When using the Black Magic Decklink 4k with a Apple Mac computer you would be able to record in ProRes. An Expansion chassis would be required. Please note the Decklink 4k model does not currently have a Mac M1 driver and will only support Intel Macs with Thunderbolt 3 ports. Chassis BH #SOEEXPSE1T3
