It's the foundation of a great build. Easily accommodates and ATXE big motherboard. Nothing fancy, just well made. If you want to show off RGB get the one with glass panel. You can't go wrong with this case.

Purchased to fit the ROG Astral, and drives in server configuration. I did have to leave out 3 drives to fit the GPU.

This can't hold 18 HDDs out of the box, what exactly is needed in addition to make it hold 18 HDDs?
Asked by: Michael
Mounting 18 hard drives on the Fractal Design Define 7 XL Full-Tower Case (Black), B&H # FRCDEF7X01, requires using the server build layout, which you can refer to on page 11 of the user manual. The case includes 6 drive trays, so you would need to buy five kits of the Fractal Design HDD Type-B Tray Kit (2-Pack, Black), B&H # FRATRAY001; these will allow you to mount the drives on the drive cages and drive bays on the case, which requires a total of 15 trays. The other 3 drives have to be mounted on the top fan slots using Fractal's Universal Multibracket—Type A (2-pack); we do not carry these, but the case includes 2 of them, so you would need to get one pack of those elsewhere in order to mount all 3 drives. The Fractal Design Define 7 XL Full-Tower Case (Black), B&H # FRCDEF7X01, offers front access to the 5.25’’ bays; the door panel swings open from the right side. If both 5.25’’ bays are in use, it supports up to a 280mm radiator.
