Toy Lens
I bought this because I wanted something cheap and compact for an EOS-M that I take with me everywhere, including protests or other crowded events, and it certainly fits those criteria. I don't think I'll be using it for much else, however, as it comes with some significant drawbacks: Heavy vignetting, less-than-attractive bokeh, tricky focusing, and a general lack of sharpness. To take advantage of the wide angle, I've tried to get up close to my subjects, but the short focus ring distance makes getting anything closer than maybe twenty feet in focus fiddly. About a 20 degree turn of the ring is the difference between infinity and 2…units. I wasn't able to determine if that's meters or feet because, as I mentioned, nothing gets particularly sharp. It's not necessarily a bad lens, if you're into Lomography, (do people still use that term?) but it should be considered a toy lens, along the lines of shooting with a Holga. That said, the metal construction is much nicer than a toy.
Cute but hard to focus on digital screen
Cute small wide lens. But difficult to focus on a digital screen.
