35mm Is My Favorite Focal Length, And The Time Since Canon Released The EF 35mm F/1.4L II And This Lens Was Way Too Long. I Was Tired Of Messing With (and Buying) Adapters To Mount My EF Lenses To My R5's. This Lens Focuses Almost Instantaneously And Is Perfectly Silent. It Has Some Really Nice Flare Qualities When Shooting With Wide Apertures, Something That Bothers Me About The RF 50mm 1.2 (my 2nd Favorite Focal Length). I Also Love That This Lens Is Super Light. The Distortion You Get With Lenses Like This Is Easily Corrected In Lightroom (just Enable Lens Correction). I Actually Like The Vignetting So I Add A Little Back In After Correction. I Don't Do Video So Have Nothing To Say About Those Features. Another Small Complaint Is That I Can't Do In-camera Double Exposures With This Lens. Other Than That, Really Enjoying This Lens So Far!

Has anyone used the Canon RF 35mm F/1.4L VCM on a gimbal? Without IS s the footage still smooth?
Asked by: Jimmy
The Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM is highly regarded for gimbal use because of its lightweight, compact design and dedicated video features like a clickless iris ring. Without the optical image stabilization (IS), it relies on your camera's In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) and produces smooth video footage on a gimbal.

I'm sure you should be able to use the Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens on the RED Komodo? But will the auto focus work on it?
Asked by: Jimmy
Yes, the Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens (Canon RF) would be able to mount on the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF) and should support autofocus, though the lens is not on RED's tested lens list.

What is VCM ?
And What is better STM or VCM of Canon L Series Lens Focus Performance?
Asked by: Kalpesh
The Voice Coil Motor is used to adjust the position of the lens elements, which changes the focus of the lens. Compared to other motor types, VCMs are faster, more precise, and consume less power. The Canon 35mm STM lens has an f1.8 aperture while the Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM has an f1.4 aperture, L series quality glass and it is weather sealed. They are not truly comparable lenses due to the price and features.

Im aware this lens relies heavily on the distortion correction but I wonder how will it behave in video cameras such as c70 (probably due to S35 crop will reduce it) or now C80? Is there something in place to fix imperfections?
Asked by: Lukas
The Canon EOS C70 Cinema Camera (RF Mount) and the Canon EOS C80 6K Full-Frame Cinema Camera (Canon RF) also have in camera distortion correction available for RF lenses such as the Canon RF 35mm f/1.4 L VCM Lens (Canon RF) so it should perform well on those cameras.
