Covering wide-angle to portrait-length fields of view, and featuring a bright f/2.8-4 maximum aperture range, this zoom is an ideal single lens for everyday shooting and working with subjects ranging from vast landscapes to environmental portraits.
Everyday Flexible Focal Length
Featuring a useful zoom range, this lens is ideal for photographing everything from landscapes to city scenes to portraiture. Also, its bright f/2.8-4 maximum aperture range offers good control over depth of field and is suitable for working in low-light conditions.
The optical design includes a trio of aspherical elements and five low-dispersion glass elements, which reduce distortion and color fringing to ensure high sharpness and accurate rendering to match the demands of 100MP medium format sensors.
Fast and Intuitive Operation
An upgraded focus system utilizes both a stepping motor and a small, lightweight focusing group to realize fast and responsive autofocus performance. This internal focusing design also benefits manual focus operation for smoother, more predictable handling.
Suitable for use with the X2D II's updated AF-C mode for quick and continuous AF performance that benefits tracking and photographing moving subjects.
A small-but-powerful leaf shutter system offers a range of shutter speeds from 1/4000 sec to 68 min with flash sync possible at all speeds.
Elegant and Reliable Design
Streamlined metal lens barrel includes dedicated focus and zoom rings along with an assignable control ring, which can be set to adjustment shutter speed, aperture setting, ISO, EV, or even the subject type when used with the X2D II's subject detection mode.
The rings are engraved with the 'H' logo for improved feel and the lens also features a 'Hasselblad V' insignia nameplate and the lens's name is engraved on top of the barrel.
Despite offering a longer zoom range and faster maximum aperture, this 35-100mm f/2.8-4 is 19% lighter in weight and 10% shorter in length than the 35-75mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom—it weighs 2 lb and measures 5.4" long compared to the 2.5 lb weight and 5.7" length of the older lens.

Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 E Reviews
Beautiful rendering
By Zach
Rated 4 out of 5

Lens has every bit the quality in rendering to meet my high expectations given the price and professional reviews. I took away a star because of fit/finish of the mounting component. There's a bit of rotational play when this lens is connected to the camera that you wouldn't expect from such a premium product. It doesn't affect the photo quality and Hasselblad claims this is within-spec, but I have to say it's worth a star since it takes something away from the enjoyment of using the lens. Others have spoken to this being particularly noticeable with this lens as opposed to others on both the X2D i and ii.
Great Lens

This lens handles well, feels good in my hands, and produces excellent images. Yes it's heavier and bulkier than a prime lens and is slower. But even with that, night photography results are excellent even when handheld. It does get heavy and feels a bit bulky, but it leaves you with more compositional choices and I enjoy being able to zoom in on distance subjects without loosing detail. Mounted on the X2D ii it still fits in the 6L Peak Design bag, which is perfect for concealing my camera when not in use and gives my hand/wrist break. Focusing is pretty fast but it won't keep up with my K9.

Will this lens work in auto-focus mode with my X2D 100, or will I need to update the
software?
Asked by: Bob
I found that I had to update the lens firmware for the auto focus to work at its best. For some reason it ships with an older firm ware that needs an update that is easily obtained from the Hasselblad website. The lens will auto focus without it but it is sluggish. Now that was on the X2D mark II but I suspect you might have to do the same with the X2D 100.

The Hasselblad XCD 35-100mm f/2.8-4 E Lens (Hasselblad X) will not fit a Fuji X mount camera. You can use the FUJIFILM XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Lens instead: (BH # FU5014028 MFR # 16443060).
