Godox LST80 Reviews
Great studio, could be better
Assembled this earlier this week. Finished product is working well for my eBay selling needs. Comments / suggested improvements: - instructions for 60 cm booth do not address unique (3 light) assembly of the 80. No help with how to mount middle light strip. Parts are included, but you are on your own. - wire exit is at rear of top surface which makes front light strip cable too short for easy use of power supply / dimmer for front shooting with changing requirements. I routed all three cables out the side of the top photo opening, but even that does not let dimmer reach a table top surface. Cables could be longer to address this. - backdrops come tightly rolled and will not relax enough to hang unless re-rolled in reverse and kept that way for 24 hours in a 4” cardboard tube. - only two flat clips to hang backdrops are wholly inadequate for the 80 cm size! They do not grip tightly, and the backdrop slips out under its own weight, or if bumped. My temporary solution was to add clear box sealing tape to hold the clips to their target. Need more clips, or better yet clips that have rubber grips inside. Despite these issues - the studio is spacious, evenly lit, and allows use of a turntable for easy multi-view shots of small to mid-sized products.
Overall Good
I do studio photography for ceramic wares so I have heard about photo tents but not used one till the last year. It was a 14in tent and so easy to use I needed to get one for the larger work I shoot. This tent was ideal because of the price, the 3 individual light bars you can position inside, and the large size. Everything works well but one feature. The clips designed to hold the plastic backdrops are nowhere strong enough. So I will need to buy additional clips. But other than that it is fantastic.
