7Artisans EF-FX Reviews

Seems Like Good Value, If Not The Absolute Best Solution.

I've Used This Adapter With A Tamron SP Di 135 F:3.5 Macro And A Sigma 8-16mm F:4.5-5.6 DC HSM. Both Work Acceptably. The Big Tamron Was Never Know As A Speedy Focuser Even On Native Cameras, And Adapted To FX On My X-S10 With The 7Artisans Adapter It Is Frustratingly Slow. Overshoots, And Hunting Are Par For The Course, But Once It Actually Decides It's Focused, It Seems To Be On Target Most Of The Time. AE Works Perfectly, And Automated Focus-stacking Is Functional. I Wasn't Planing On Shooting Action With This Lens, And The Adapted Performance Assures I Am Not Going To Be, But It Functions Acceptably For My Use Case. I Have Made Some Very Good Stacked-focus Macro Images With It. Of Stationary Subjects, Mind You. The Sigma 8-16 Is A Different Story. It Is *fast* To Focus, But It I Have Experienced A Few Wierd Misses That I Didn't Expect. AE Works Perfectly, As With The Tamron. This Lens I Own Because It's The Widest Rectilinear AF Zoom For APS-C Format, And Also One Of The Best Super-wide Zooms For APS-C Ever Made. With The Huge DOF It's Not Much Of An Issue, And I Have Only Seen Those Misses In Low-light Situations, But The Lens And Camera Both Seem To Enthusiastically, And Rapidly Lock Focus, But Miss... In Bright Light, I Have Not Had This Issue. Again, The Result Is Acceptable For My Use Case. I Have Not Used This Adapter With "standard" Zooms Of Any Kind, Or "sports" Type Telephoto/zoom Lenses, But Based On My Limited Experience, If You Are Planing To Shoot Action With Those Sorts Of Lenses You May Be Better Served By The More Expensive, But Better Regarded Fringer Adapter. On The Other Hand, If Like Me, You Wish To Partake Of The Crippling Depreciation That EF Lenses And Especially EF-S Lenses Now Face To Widen Your Options While Maintaining AF, AE, IBIS And Exif Reporting, This Appears To Be A High Value Option. The 7Artisans Is Built Well And Functions Acceptably Enough, As Long As You Aren't Trying To Shoot Sports With It.

Works Great
