Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR 28mm f/2 Aspherical Lens (Leica M)
Key Features
  • Full-Frame | f/2 to f/16
  • Extremely Fast, Lightweight Prime
  • Manual Focus Design
  • 12-Blade Iris | Round, Ultrasoft Bokeh
A high-performing wide-angle prime designed for M-mount camera systems, the APO-LANTHAR 28mm f/2 Aspherical Lens from Voigtlander holds the elite distinction of being part of the APO-LANTHAR series of optically refined, apochromatic lenses. The apochromatic design makes the on-axis chromatic aberration of RGB light wavelengths constituting the three primary colors of light as close to zero as possible. A series of anomalous partial dispersion and aspherical elements help to suppress virtually all aberrations for especially high sharpness and color accuracy. A manual focus design is employed, along with a high-precision helicoid, for refined focusing control. Additionally, a 12-blade diaphragm forms a circular opening when using the wider apertures, creating a pleasing circular bokeh from point light sources.

Voigtlander APO-LANTHAR 28mm f/2 Aspherical Overview

Optical Design Advantages
  • A 12-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when working with a shallow depth of field.
  • Floating elements maintain consistently high image quality throughout the focusing range, from 19.7" to infinity.
  • Using six partial dispersion elements, this lens has an apochromatic designation due to its ability to virtually eliminate color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve higher clarity and color fidelity.
  • Two aspherical elements are incorporated in the 12-element, 8-group construction, and help to limit spherical aberrations and distortions for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
