Sescom LN2MIC-50DB Reviews

Great attenuating cable perfect for my use

Just what I was looking for. The line out max attenuation on my DR-100 Mk III recorder is 30 DB, which isn't really enough to give good adjustability when fed into the Panasonic G85. By setting the line out on the recorder at 0 db, and using the 50 db Sescom cable, I now have room to adjust the audio.

I would buy this product again

This is a good cable for adjusting audio levels in a digital audio recorder when you are not able to monitor the audio. This cable knocks the signal coming into the recorder by 50db. This is enough to eliminate distortion and clipping. I would recommend this to any wedding videographer who wants to record the audio coming out of a dj sound board and cannot monitor the audio.

question

Is this compatible with a Tascam DR-70D + BM Pocket Cinema/Panasonic GH4 combo? I can't see either cameras in the compatibility list.
Asked by: Hans
Hello,I would recommend the LN2MIC-TASDR100 cable instead. It is compatible with both of those camera models.Regards

question

Would -50dB of attenuation be overkill for sending audio from the Tascam DR-70D into another device/camera?
Asked by: Hans
yes, for the DR-70D you'd need -35db attenuation. Our LN2MIC-TASDR100 would be the one to use.

question

Is there any advantage/disadvantage in having a -50dB attenuation compared to having only -35 or -25dB of attenuation? Does it mean less hissing/noise?
Asked by: Hans
The -50db attenuation will give you more padding , but ideally you should match is up with the levels of the output device. If that device is outputting 25db, then using the 50db cable would be overkill.
