In addition zoom and focus control, the RC Clamp features a record start/stop button, a camera power button, and an autofocus on/off button. Plus there a button to reverse the directionality of the rocker. LEDs indicate whether the remote is set to zoom or focus mode and tell you if the camera is recording. A 55" coiled LANC cable is included.

Manfrotto MVR901EC Reviews

I am not happy this is the best LANC controller available

I have tried them all - from the cheapies all the way up to the top-of-the price line. The only one that came close was the VariZoom Rock model. Compared to that one, this one has a way better feeling rocker switch that is both variable depending on how far you move the switch, but also adjustable with a side wheel. The focus, AF button, record and power button all work flawlessly on my Canon XF605. Here are my pros/cons. Pros Rocker switch works well and is smooth out of the box and ready to go without any calibration All buttons work Handle attachment is decent and the rubber pads on both sides keeps the controller tight without slipping Coiled cord is nice and keeps things tidy, and is replaceable Cons The entire thing is made out of rubber-coated plastic. I have had many similar Manfrotto parts that simply break apart or get all gummy over time The rocker switch is a tiny component inside and would not survive much abuse The rocker speed control wheel is abysmally small and difficult to adjust with anything but the tiniest of fingertips The cord is too short for many setups The price is ridiculous for what it is, especially given that it is not rugged enough to be an actual 'pro' model If it were made out of metal and maybe had a very rugged rocker switch, it would be perfect. I wish Canon would step up and offer such a basic controller, no doubt making it much more rugged. The ability to adjust zoom slowly while following action and not having to drape your hand up over the camcorder's control is key. For that, this thing is worth it. But I do feel like Manfrotto is very much pro-sumer rather than professional.

Works perfect with the Sony PXW-z90v

I have this attached to an Sachtler Activ6 / Flowtech tripod. You can find my video on YouTube. Long story short, if you want nice smooth control of zoom while panning, there's no better way to do it that with this controller.

question

In focus mode, is the rocker switch variable speed, or just multi speed? Meaning, does it change focus faster/slower based on how hard you push the rocker, or it is just all on/off based on a few selectable preset focus speeds?
Asked by: Jonathan P.
The speed is touch sensitive variable, not set speeds.

question

Does this work with the Panasonic AJ-PX230 ?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, no, this remote will not work on Panasonic camcorders even though the physical connector is the same as for other cameras. Panasonic uses a different LANC protocol than Sony or Canon. For this camera, you can use the VariZoom VZRock-PZFI Rocker Controller B&H # VAVZROCKPZFI or the Libec Remote Zoom and Focus Control for Select LANC and Panasonic Cameras B&H # LIZFC5HD. If you wish, there are larger, more professional zoom controls also available.

Does this work on the C70? Trigger and Iris?

Does this work on the C70? Trigger and Iris?
Asked by: Luke
You can trigger the record with this controller on the C70. However, there is no iris control. You can also control the zoom and focus ONLY with the Canon CN-E Servo Lenses.

question

Has anyone tried using a 2.5 mm splitter to send the signal from this remote to two separate cameras? I have a situation where I need two cameras to be recording at the same time but only one operator (One camera is for close up, the other is a static wide shot with servo zoom disabled).
Asked by: Josh S.
We do not know of such splitter and in such a situation we recommend from past experience two controllers.

question

Is the focus control variable speed, or just multi-speed? I understand it has a speed setting switch, but does the rocker switch ramp up to that speed, or is it full on/full off at whatever the setting is?
Asked by: Jonathan P.
The zoom is variable touch sensitive, just like you would want it to be.

Please use Sony VMC-AVM1 A/V R Adapter Cable B&H # SOVMCAVM1 and Manfrotto AV-R to LANC Cable (7.8 ) B&H # MA522AV. We apologize if the cables did not show up and for any confusion.
