The SWIT BN-S8823 7.2V Lithium Ion Battery from JVC is a 7.2V, 2600mAh battery that works with the JVC GY-HM100, GY-HM150, and GY-HM170 camcorders. The battery has a four-level LED indicator, so you can tell on sight roughly how much power remains before you attach it to the camera. The BN-S8823 is equivalent to JVC's BN-VF823 battery.

The BN-S8823 also has a 7.2V pole DC output that can be used to power the SWIT S-2010 on-camera LED light and the camera simultaneously. When used with compatible camcorders, the battery transmits the remaining power percentage and recording time. An intelligent circuit protects against abnormal current, voltage, and temperature.

SWIT BN-S8823 7.2V Lithium Ion Battery for GY-HM100/150/170 is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from impossible to charge with JVC GY-HM70U Gift received with camcorder JVC HM70U but impossible to recharge with this camera, JVC HM70U does not charge other battery model. You have to buy the SWIT charger which is quite expensive. I finally managed to reload with an old Panasonic charger 8.4 volt and 1.2 ampere by taking dc plug available on the battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage This battery claims a great capacity.... BULL! Battery shows 3/4 left, camera reads 165 minutes then it just drops. Camera shuts down. Avoid this at all costs!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It does not deliver what it promises. I bought it and did not like it, it is not long lasting. Lasts at maximum 1:10 pm Very poor purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Incorrect readout with GY-HM170 I usually don't have issues with non-OEM batteries, but I must warn about this particular one. I was originally excited about getting a little more capacity for half the price in comparison to OEM battery, and having a handy on-battery indicator that allows you to see the charge level without having to attach the battery to the camera. Tested it out of the box before using in the field, seemed to be working OK. However, during the first shoot, I noticed the charge indicator on the battery does not match the charge level as read by the camera. In addition, the fully charged battery dropped charge at almost 2x the rate (on-camera battery estimated time indicator dropped by approximately by 2 minutes for each minute of real time), and then, at about 120 estimated minutes still left on the charge, the on-camera battery readout just disappeared, and the on-battery readout showed no charge. All of this during a live performance where I could not afford to lose power. As you can imagine, I had a brief moment of panic. Luckily, the juice kept flowing for another 15 minutes or so until the intermission, and I swapped the SWIT battery with the OEM JVC battery. Bottom line, if you film anything that cannot be interrupted, spend the extra $ on the OEM battery.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I gave it one star because giving it .25 of a star is not an option. Charged it up and used it for less than 15 minutes. Took my camera out the next day and it had enough juice to turn the camera on and then turned it right off. Waste of money!! Don't waste your money on this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY!! I charged this battery when it first arrived, it lasted about 15 minutes. So I charged it again, and same thing. Both times it tested at 100% and the camera showed it had a battery life of 160 minutes, but 15 minutes later it was dead both times.....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't last long First noticed that it lost capacity twice as fast as indicated by the time remaining. Within a week it would not charge at all and now remains dead to the world. Sending this puppy back home.
