    ASUS PA248Q reviews

PA248Q 24" LED Backlit IPS Widescreen Monitor is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 137.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A big step up from consumer monitors I have two high end Dell displays on my desk at work, and I was always amazed at how much better they looked than my 6-yea-old ViewSonic display at home. So I wasn't exactly disappointed when the ViewSonic bit the dust a couple of week ago. I had prior experience with Asus monitors at work, and our IT guy told me that they had an excellent reliability record. I researched all of the current 24 IPS offerings, including several 4K monitors, some of which were less expensive than the Asus. In the end, I decided to go with this model mostly based on the excellent reviews. I have not been disappointed. The brightness and color accuracy is excellent, and the tilt-swivel monitor stand is one of the best I've used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revelation I thought I was very happy with my old monitor, so when it died I was not looking forward to buying a new one. I did a lot of research and also spent a lot of time with one salesperson at B&H who explained the differences between all the monitors I was considering, and I happily settled on this one. It really is a revelation. The colors are deeper, the perspective is better, the text is sharper, etc. I have not noticed any of the things that some others have complained about (e.g., bleed, lost pixels). I especially appreciated the salesperson's help and the fact that B&H does not have a restocking fee in case I didn't like the monitor once I got it home. The price was also very competitive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PA248Q 24 I am a full-time Certified professional photographer with over 35 years experience and I call my own color on all of my photographs. I already own an ASUS PA246Q IPS monitor (for 18 months) and I believe it is an excellent monitor and a tremendous value. I wanted to purchase a new monitor for my assistant and it appeared that the PA248Q was the successor to my older monitor, however the PA248Q was even less expensive, so I was curious what had changed. I ordered one and I am pleasantly surprised that I couldn't tell ANY difference in quality. The buttons changed location. I calibrate my monitors with Spyder Pro 4 software, so I placed the new monitor next to my older monitor and I was impressed that the difference was miniscule. (The monitors from ASUS come calibrated from the factory but all monitors will drift in calibration - given time.) I then calibrated the newer monitor and they were a perfect match - just what I wanted. Both monitors are capable of accurately showing the entire Adobe RGB color space if needed. sRGB is therefore not a problem either. I have looked at other brands that sell for MUCH more and I can't justify the extra money. This is a fantastic monitor and ASUS has a dead pixel warranty. I would recommend the ASUS PA248Q to anybody serious about their color on their monitor being accurate. I have had the PA246Q for 18 months and the PA248Q for two weeks. The user manual is rather limited, but if you know anything about monitors and calibration, that will not be a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Monitor I was looking for a monitor with true color reproduction to edit photos with and to work with 3d structural modeling software. The difference in color fidelity is stunning. Working on this monitor for extended periods is easy. The stand and the inputs available are first rate. The 4 USB 3.0 ports built into the side are very handy. They are located on the left side when the monitor is used horizontally. At first I thought it made my desktop appear cluttered because you can see the wires. The more I used it, it became apparent they put them there for ease of access. The ports work very fast. It comes with all the cables you need except a HDMI cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Monitor Wanting an IPS monitor, I initially bought the Dell U2412M for my office already having the U2311H at home and pleased with it. After receiving the U2412M, I noticed that the build quality of this IPS is inferior to that of the previous generation Dell IPS monitors so I returned it. The stand has no substance and the bezel was not flush in the inside against the display. After further research, I purchased this ASUS monitor and couldn't be happier. The build quality is sturdy and clean. Moreover the picture is excellent. The AG coating isn't too harsh on this which is my only complaint of IPS displays in general. The buttons on the front have a nice touch / feel to them. The HDMI port is another plus. Can't go wrong with this monitor!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good value for photo-editing My old Samsung 2230 was becoming difficult to calibrate, so I decided to purchase a new monitor for photo-editing. Photography is a hobby for me; I wanted to stay well below the $1000+ price of top-notch dedicated photo-editing monitors. Photo-editing is demanding of monitor performance, so much of this review includes actual measurements using an X-Rite i1Pro Display monitor calibrator. I would have rated the PA248Q four stars as a general purpose monitor. The Asus PA248Q IPS screen viewing-angle did not disappoint. With this monitor there is no need to raise and lower my head for a bright view above and below center screen, or to lean left and right to judge image-quality near screen edges. Brightness does fall off with viewing angle, but the rate of fall-off is low enough to not be a problem.A great feature is the mechanical adjustability: height, rotation (90 degree), swivel, and tilt are all excellent. All new monitors are very bright, typically greater than 250 cd/m2, but not all can be color-calibrated at the low brightness appropriate for photo editing. I calibrated this Asus to 110 cd/m2 at a color temp of 5500K using an X-Rite i1Pro Display. Color accuracy measured at E < 3. After calibrating, I dropped brightness to 95 cd/m2 using the monitor brightness control. The screen maintained accurate color. To me, this low brightness with color accuracy is all I expect in a sub $$monitor. The biggest shortcoming with (at least my copy of) this product is poor screen-uniformity. The screen center measures brighter and bluer than the edges. Luminosity variance from center to lower-right corner is about 20 cd/m2 at 110 cd/m2. The color temperature of the center is some 250K higher than the corners. To put these numbers in perspective, I notice these errors when looking at a white-screen at low brightness, but I've not noticed them when viewing actual photographs.A second and more minor screen-uniformity issue is backlight leakage in the lower right corner (15% of screen area). It is most easily noticed with a black screen. The leakage is barely visible in a normally lit room, and not noticeable in normal use. This monitor uses white LED (versus ccfl) backlight. I'm guessing this is relevant to the non-uniformities --a price extracted for color accuracy without warmup, better power efficiency, and (presumably) longer monitor life.I considered returning this unit at first because of the screen non-uniformites. After seeing how well it calibrated, reading screen-uniformity complaints about other more expensive IPS-LED brands and models, and actually editing a few images, I thought that I probably would not do better than the PA248Q for the price. Based on my monitor, I would recommend this model as good value only if you are comfortable compromising somewhat on screen uniformity. If not, spend considerably more for a monitor with a costlier screen.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pre-calibration? Not exactly... I do like the monitor, and trusted the pre-calibration claim. However, since then, I have learned that what is on my screen was not on the other monitors or printers - in fact it was very, very different. Did a test. It was way off. If you buy this monitor, I suggest doing a calibration with a Spyder4Pro. Still not crazy about the inaccuracy I'm experiencing. I did a lot of research prior to purchase, but in doing in more since, I'm finding other reviews that list the same issues... Everything else about the monitor, however, I really like!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ASUS IPS Monitor 24 PA248Q What a GREAT monitor. First time I used it I sent a print to the lab and without them color correcting the file, it came out EXACTLY as it looked on my screen.....perfecto!The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because I just had to send it back as it was defective - flickered for the first 5-10 minutes of use. B&H as usual were fantastic and paid to ship it back to them and they are shipping me a new hassles whatsoever!
