The Hoya 49mm UV Haze NXT HMC Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Hoya HMC filters are multi-coated for reducing flare, ghosting, and reflections on the filter surface. As a result, over 97% light transmission is possible, providing you with additional contrast and high color fidelity.

The UV NXT filters are constructed from high quality, heat-resistant, high-transparency optical glass and a precision milled low-profile aluminum frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Great Hoya filter Hoya's great multicoating makes another great filter. I was having some really bad ghosting with light points with my old filter, but when I installed this Hoya UV Haze NXT filter, those problems all but disappeared. It always pays to get a good multi-coated filter to put in front of a good mult-coated lens like a Pentax lens. Don't just rely on the Multi-coating of the lens you are using, put a good multi-coated filter in front of it, even if the filter is for damage protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Filter, but Returned it to Use Polarizer Filter Instead I have no experience with this filter. However, some of my more knowledgeable friends told me two things: (1) it is generally better NOT to put any more filters in front of a good lens unless it is absolutely necessary; and (2) Hoya glass, filters & lenses are quite good and very reliable and rugged. With this in mind, I decided not to use both a UV filter and a polarizer filter for outdoor and brightly lit indoor photography (which is 95% of where I shoot. Instead I will use a good polarizer to protect my Sony lens and to reduce glare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Predictable Hoya Product I have this on the new 50mm f/1.8 on a 7D2 for fun.. It protects the lens which is the primary reason I buy UV lenses.. The inexpensive Canon 50mm f/1.8 is surprisingly good too.. I have a Canon 50mm f/1.2 that I use on my 5D3 and it's a great lens, but the new f/1.8 is small and light and fun to carry.. Not quite as sharp but also not as heavy.. Puts out good bokeh - a real bargain for someone who wants to enjoy a prime lens at a low cost....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Protection Front Elelment on RX 1 I bought this along with my Sony RX 1. I know some people think that a UV filter detracts from the picture quality, but when you're shooting a Carl Zeiss T*-Sonar lens, you don't take chances.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Protection I got this filter to live on the front of my Sony 20mm/F2.8 lens and it is exactly what I expected it to be. I know the Hot Mirror in front of the sensor in my camera filters out UV so I no longer need to filter out UV externally. However, the filter affords extra protection for my lens and that can't be a bad thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for a Sony 55-210mm zoom Purchased at the same time as my sony 55-210mm lens for lens protection. Fits snuggly and is economical.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product -Protets your lens -Does not effect the quality and color of the photo/video -Price reasonable for the quality of the filter -Lens cap closes fine with the filter on -I have had this filter for only a short time, but it looks like it would last
