The Hoya 46mm UV Haze NXT HMC Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Hoya HMC filters are multi-coated for reducing flare, ghosting, and reflections on the filter surface. As a result, over 97% light transmission is possible, providing you with additional contrast and high color fidelity.

The UV NXT filters are constructed from high quality, heat-resistant, high-transparency optical glass and a precision milled low-profile aluminum frame.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality I have a degree in commercial and industrial photography. But my profession is product design engineer. So these days, photography is just for fun. But I am still quite particular. Since the 70s, I have placed a UV or skylight filter on a lens almost immediately after unboxing. Anything between the image and the film (or sensor) reduces image quality. In bright sunlight, UV filters do increase color quality. But cheap ones reduce sharpness. I have used other brands, but know I can trust these Hoya filters. If you want better color in daylight, or just want to protect your lens, this is a good choice. If you are spending $1000 for a lens, don't spend $10 for a filter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Somewhat dissapointed. The filter fits perfectly on my 17mm M.Zuiko lens, however, while using it, we had some light rain. I used a micro fiber cleaning cloth to wipe the raindrops from the filter. When I did that, it looked like the filter coating was being smeared. I was shocked, and thought the filter coating was ruined. However, after it dried (which took a while), it appeared to be okay. This isn't good if you want a shot while the coating is drying. I guess the coating doesn't like getting wet. Other than that it worked fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trusted I've seen the independent scientific test results comparing the effectiveness of UV filters of quite a number of manufacturers. I'll trust Hoya to filter UV. If I just need a lens protector I still buy Hoya because of the multi coatings. Just wish they'd smooth off the mount threads, which are left rough just like all the other manufacturers these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protect and Serve - UV Haze filter I purchased the Hoya version of this filter to protect my lens during my street walking photography tours in areas where the wind can whip up debris and dust onto the front lens. This protection is cheaper than replacing a lens and it can be easily removed when the filter is not needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good investment in lens protection. Not much can be said about UV Haze filter that is mainly used to protect a prime lens except that this does a great job. Well made with threads that match well with the Panasonic lens that it is being used for with glass that does not distort picture image. A good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing negative to say about this filte I got this filter to protect my lens from the elements, and from possible impact damage. It does not appear to interfere in any way with the quality of my photos. I haven't noticed any flare, reduced contrast, etc., because of it, so it is serving the purpose well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but quality filter ... I have been using Hoya filters for years, I have never had problems using it. Maybe its price is high but the quality has its price. Maybe I would have bought another cheap filter but BH recommended it to me. I did not have time to see other options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product for a good price In my photographic work, I often travel to places where repairing or replacing equipment is not possible. This srot of filter is mostly security, to protect the fromt element of the lnes. This one does a very good job, and the price is right!
