Very nice size for product shots of full guitars.

I've had three of the four rods work their way through the end of each corner of the box. I will have to reinforce this upon repair.

I've worked with smaller and larger softboxes, but this one hits my sweet spot. Using it extensively for portrait and still life photography. Easy to assemble/handle. Profoto quality I'm used to.

    Rod pushed through corner

I've had the box for ~ 4 years. Product worked great during that time period. This weekend the rod pushed through the corner while the box was on a stand in use. Does anyone know of good way to re-enforce the corner? Is there another brand in this size that folks recommend?

its simply the best for my use but they break down quickly at the corners where the rods go in, I wish they just reinforced this area

What is the max continuous wattage this box can handle? I want to use this box with 800 watt HMI or even 1600 watt hmi
    Asked by: Jacob
The Profoto RFi 3.0 x 4.0' Softbox was not designed for use with continuous lights. That being said, they are durable enough to be used with Profoto's ProHeads, which have a 500W halogen modeling lamp. I would not recommend going above this heat range. The Profoto HR softboxes were "Heat Resistant" and were designed for use with continuous lights, but Profoto's HR softboxes and continuous lights were discontinued some time ago and are no longer available for purchase. If you are looking for a similar-sized softbox for continuous light usage needs, the Photoflex Large SilverDome nxt (34 x 45 x 24.5"), B&H # PHSDLZ, will work with light fixtures up to 3,000W, and the Impact Luxbanx Duo Large Rectangular Softbox (36 x 48"), B&H # IMLBRDL, will work with continuous light fixtures up to 1,500W lamps.

    question

Is the outer covering supposed to be black? I recently purchaseda rfi 3 x 4 on Ebay. And when i got it the outer layer is dark navy. Definitely not black like the rest of my profoto softboxes. Just want to make sure the profoto softboxes from B&H are all solid black.
    Asked by: Wayne M.
I had this same box and others from Profoto and they are all black. Solid black!

    question

HiWe are a car dealership and we have our own studio, we are trying to find proper lighting to take pictures of our cars. do you recommand this product ? Should we hang it on the ceilling facing straight down on the cars? thank you
    Asked by: Seif A.
Most overhead softboxes for car photography are 10 times bigger than this. They're very specialized light banks. You're best bet is to get the largest one you can afford for the overhead. For the sides of the car you can just light paint with smaller boxes using multiple shots.
