Expensive but allows removal with wider range of filters than the Vello

If it wasn't made out of plastic yet still so expensive, I'd give it 5 stars. But, it works perfectly and can be placed / removed over my BreakThrough-SanFrancisco UV4X filter. I tried the Vello, but it didn't fit over the BreakThrough's slightly knurled ring. ...oh, and for the extra bucks, the Sony gives you a nice little bag. Both hoods gave me the same extra "hold" room for my index finger that made focusing in manual much more comfortable, and my hold on the tiny lens / camera much more secure. Neither hood can be detached, reversed, and stored on the lens to provide lower profile storage. But the camera + hood is so small, I just leave the hood on all the time and still can stick it in my jacket pocket when I'm on the subway, etc.

Yes, the Sony LHP-1 Lens Hood can be taken on or off the camera when using a 49mm filter.
