Nikon A211 overview

  • 1Description

Nikon's black 10-22x50 Aculon A211 Binocular is an ideal device for hunters, birders, and avid outdoor enthusiasts who require a range of magnifications for wide-field and detailed observations in all light conditions.

This version is outfitted with large 50mm objectives to draw in copious amounts of light and ensure bright and clear views in challenging situations like at dawn or dusk, or when peering into dense underbrush. Anti-reflection multi-coated aspherical lenses, made with environmentally friendly Eco-Glass elements, complement the BAK4 Porro prism light path to deliver high-contrast images with enhanced depth of field without edge distortion, and accurate color fidelity.

The Aculon's sculpted rubber-armored housing is designed to fit comfortably into the observer's hand and provide a secure non-slip handling. A thoughtfully-placed lever located next to the right eyepiece is easy to find with the thumb without having to take the binocular away from the eyes — putting control of the 10x to 22x magnification range at the observer's fingertips. Its zoom range and large objectives can make holding the A211 steady for long periods of time challenging, so Nikon includes a tripod adapter that allows it to easily mount onto a support system for hands-free use without the vibration, shake, and arm fatigue that can occur when holding powerful optics like this.

The combination of image quality and user-friendly design make the 10-22x50 Aculon A211 a natural option for intermediate- to long-range glassing.

Optical Performance
  • Wide 10-22x zoom magnification range provides wide views at low magnification, with the ability to make detailed observations of distant objects at high magnification
  • Large 50mm objective lenses improve light gathering ability for bright and clear images, even in challenging conditions such as at dawn and dusk
  • Traditional Porro prism light path produces a rich depth of field allowing the user to discern the relative distances between objects in the view
  • High refractive index BAK4 prisms deliver a round exit pupil, and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Aspherical eyepiece lenses correct spherical aberration to produce clear and crisp images, with reduced edge distortion and astigmatism
  • Anti-reflection multi-coated optics produce neutral and accurate color fidelity, and improve contrast and image brightness
  • 199-foot field of view at 1000 yards, on 10x power
Use and Handling
  • Ergonomically-placed zoom lever allows user to adjust the zoom without removing binocular from the eyes with a simple movement of the thumb
  • Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate, even while wearing gloves
  • Left-eye dioptric correction compensates for individual user's optical prescription for clearer and sharper views
  • 56-72mm interpupillary adjustment range
  • Fold-down rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • 8.6mm eye relief at 10x power
  • Comfortable 5mm exit pupil at 10x will completely cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light for a full and complete view without vignetting

Nikon A211 reviews

10-22x50 Aculon A211 Binocular is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from a very good value These are good binoculars, especially at this price. Be aware that when zoomed in to 22x they are hard to hold steady but that is only to be expected. To help they come with a tripod adapter but anything solid on which to brace your elbows will work. at 18x or less they are easy enough to hand hold. The optics are not as good as a single focus would be, but again, that is only to be expected. They serve my purposes for wildlife observation very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Can See Clearly Now I have been using a cheap pair I got for free for a few years and I use them almost every day as we have a lot of wildlife around my house. I had to close one eye or else you would get a slight double vision. I finally got my hands on a pair of Nikon binoculars, the 8-18x42 zoom, and was amazed at how clear everything was. Came right home and ordered the 10-22x50 zoom as I liked the specs for what I use them for a little better. Couldn't be happier, these things are great. I didn't really want zoom binoculars as I thought the optics would be better with the fixed, but I use the zoom so often that now I feel like I would never want a pair that is fixed. The view is very clear and I feel like I use the longer range (15-18x) very well. Obviously it'll get more shaky, but I feel like I still a better view of what I'm looking at by zooming in closer. Wish I'd of purchased them much sooner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, I would recommend this to anyone I love the binoculars they're crystal clear to look through, I love the rubber texture to hold onto, even though their largest size they are very lightweight. Only negative thing, I can say is , I'm really surprised Nikon built such a great pair of binoculars and didn't figure out a way to keep the lens covers on them , the lens covers on one end snap into place and hold great, but the other end where you look through, you could just breathe on them and they fall off, even with that said I would still recommend them to anyone , you just have to use your imagination and come up with another lens cover other than what they give you

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product for the dollar Needs focus after zoom, but that is minor. They DO need better eye relief. Not as easy to sight in on bird or such as older, less powerful Nikon Monarch 8x40s or even Travelite 9x26, but DO give good distance viewing. They come with tripod mount so that is an option if subject is not moving around a lot. I would recommend them to a friend with a few suggestions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Right! In conjunction with my bird photography, I need a good pair of binoculars. Since my camera gear is Nikon, I went with the Nikon Aculon A211's. They are solid, well-made and perfect for this use. The zoom function lets me see the image in a similar focus to my 500mm lens. Not a big fan of the near lens cap set-up, but that has no real part in the use. I would recommend these binoculars to other birders or nature lovers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Zoom I bought it to use some for astronomy and some for terrestrial applcations. It has an interesting thing about it though. At closer ranges, especially, it has somtimes an almsot 2 D quality. And the roof of a house that is fairly close, looks almost straight up and down, rather than angled as it should look, at some points. More distortion than I would like at closer range. Some thick tree branches look almost flat. It appears to be faily good for viewing the night sky, but you will need to use a tripod or similar device. The Aculons that are not zoom are supposed to have better lens technology. I am hoping it it will do well for the large part of my viewing, which will be the night sky, and viewing the earth, more at least at intermediate ranges. Good clarity and sharpness. Good zooming. It may be what you want, but I recommend you try one out first. Would be great for most nature viewing, but it's strange lack of depth, especially at close range, may bother you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good pair of eyes! This was purchased for my husband by me as a gift for our anniversary and I was planning on ordering another pair but the sales person I spoke with suggested the Aculon A211 Binocular which has an amazing zoom lens. We are extremely pleased with this purchase and are loving the light weight feature as well as the zoom since we live on a lake and watch the wildlife there. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who enjoys watching bird life.
