Manfrotto Pixi Overview

  • 1Description

The black PIXI Mini Table Top Tripod from Manfrotto doubles as a tabletop tripod and a handheld grip support for a DSLR, point and shoot, or compact camcorder. The legs are rounded on their outer side, so the closed tripod provides a comfortable hand grip. When open, the tripod and head have a maximum height of 5.31". Rubber feet prevent slipping and protect delicate surfaces.

Fabricated from stainless steel and black Adapto polymer, the PIXI supports up to 2.2 pounds while weighing only 6.7 ounces. Its built-in ball head has a 1/4"-20 camera screw and a unique design that allows adjustments and locking with a single push button. Besides cameras, the PIXI is also ideal for iPhones outfitted with the optional Manfrotto KLYP, and other small devices.

    Manfrotto Pixi Reviews

PIXI Mini Table Top Tripod (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 194.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it got this tripod couple of weeks ago based on the good products that Manfrotto creates as well as an owner of one of the pro manfrotto tripods, since then it doesn't leave my pocket. I even use it for reading or browsing on my iPhone. note that this product is intended to be used with smart phones or small cameras, it does not hold big cameras such as Canon/Nikon pro series - I have tried it on my 7D, and the result wasn't good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to Carry with your Camera I bought this at the B&H superstore in Manhattan recently, as I didn't bring a tripod along on our trip and found myself constantly setting the camera on a ledge or table etc to get a shot with a slow shutter. So this was laying out on a samples table with many other small ones. It is substantial, sturdy, and well built. It also benefits from simple design and function (ie not too many levers and buttons). On my first trip out with it I also found that it sort of doubles as a handle for the camera. That is, when just walking around, I fixed it to the camera and just held the tripod legs together with the camera atop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent mini tripod - Great for Travel Photography Excellent mini tripod that has lots of portable and weight benefits for the travel photographer and videographer. I looked at number of similar mini tripods in the B and H store in New York and opted for this one because there is a very useful button that allow you to lock the ball head into place in seconds. Other mini pods require you to unlock and tighten the ball head first. It held the weight of my canon DSLR and 55 to 70 (kit lens) without any problems. Just pop the camera on the mini tripod and then place it on a park bench, wall or anything to give you additional height. Look around and I am sure you will always find something to place the mini pod on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made There are many tripods out there designed for the iPhone or small cameras., Because I was taken with Manfrotto's Klyp, especially it's ability to add an LED light or external mic to its shoe mount. I wanted a matching tripod. The Pixi provides robust support for the Klyp, plus it's stylish to boot. You can also close its legs and use it as a handgrip for run-and-gun type shooting. The only probem I had is that it showed up as a potentially sharp object in my carry-on luggage during an airport X-ray. However, that has only happened once, and it took all of 30 seconds to show the customs officer the tripod, who sent me on my way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality, weak head. For the most part, it gets the job done. Love the materials used for this tripod. Very solid and strong. The fluid head gets weaker as time goes by (which is normal). But still, I wish it had a self-tightening mechanism instead of like a reverse locking mechanism that this one has - where if you press that red button on the side, its lose, and when you let it go it's tightened again. If you plan on using this for lightweight use, you have almost no worries. I bought this to balance my 3-axis gimbal. It works, but I probably should get a bigger/stronger tripod than this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Portable tripod I got this for a Leica T, which a somewhat heavy camera. It seems well made, but not really easy to use like a standard tripod. I do like it's lightness, and it packs well when not in use. I am not crazy about the push button control for tilting the camera, and it doesn't have a way to get a positive lock when connecting the camera to the tripod. You just screw the entire tripod to tighten, sometimes it doesn't get quite tight enough and the camera can spin. I have a few other mini-tripods which all have some problems, but I would put this one on the bottom of my list.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and stable. Terrific little tripod. I have used this tripod for both my Panasonic G7 and my Canon 70D and found it very stable and and sure-footed. Folded, the legs provide a great ergonomic hand grip. Though the ball is not silky smooth in operation, the push button release makes it easy to adjust, and once set the tripod is very firm and capable of holding both my cameras without creep. This tripod can be used in a number of locations, but without hand on stabilization, this tripod is best used on flat surfaces for best stability, as the legs are not individually adjustable. Overall, a very useful and worthwhile purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly awesome! I usually use a Mamfrotto carbon fiber tripod with a substantial head so I know proper camera support. Got this after seeing some good reviews and needing a carry around for my Coolpix A. Got it just before Christmas and due to a rush Christmas morning to get to my parents I only had this and my D800 + 80-400 for a couple of family pictures I needed to be in. All I can say is wow...held that rig without slipping while I did a few timed exposures. No way I'd normally put that much on it but it has earned a spot in my purse for all-around in a pinch support...now to find a bigger purse ;) Build is top notch plastic and out of the box strong ball head hold. Happy buyer!

This is a very small tripod. 7.3 long when folded. One would need to consult with the particular airline if it is acceptable to bring it onto the plane
