Vortex DBK-80A1 overview

  • 1Description

The angled-viewing Diamondback 20-60x80 Spotting Scope from Vortex features a large objective lens and specialized optical coatings to provide bright and clear images. All air-to-glass surfaces have Vortex's XR anti-reflective coatings to minimize light loss. Additionally, they are ArmorTek coated for scratch resistance. To ensure accurate color across the entire visible spectrum, the Porro prisms are dielectric coated. These coatings are highly reflective and lose less than 1% of the light that passes through them. This combination of coatings and optics creates a spotting scope that produces bright, clear, highly contrasted images with accurate color transmission.

The high-impact resistant fiberglass-reinforced polymer body is O-ring sealed and nitrogen filled to be water and fogproof. Its focus system features a fine-focus wheel for precise focusing capability and tack-sharp views. The scope has a tripod mounting shoe with a ¼"-20 threaded mount. For comfort and convenience, the tripod collar rotates to permit the eyepiece to be put in the best viewing position. A retractable lens shade keeps the Sun or rain off the objective lens.

    Vortex DBK-80A1 reviews

Diamondback 20-60x80 Spotting Scope (Angled Viewing) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for our needs! My husband is visually impaired and sees most birds as a black dot in the distance or a blur up close. We have our Vortex Diamondback sitting on a tripod in our sunroom pointed toward our birdfeeder. When he tried it out for the first time and asked, what is the bird with the white bib and the black head? I thought that this scope was worth every penny. You can't put a price on being able to see details when you're legally blind. It's opened up a whole new world for him. We are very happy with this purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent, not great. To be realistic, it is probably decent for the price. A couple flaws, the front lens cap does not even fit, it will fall out if you point the lens down so I just discard it. The focus when zoomed to the maximum is so narrow moving the focus knob even the slightest amount takes the subject out of focus. Seems to be pretty well made and time will tell. The cover that comes with it is actually very nice to protect the scope. I almost sent this unit back because of the focus issue and feel I may come to regret keeping it. I should have shopped for a Nikon or other brand to compare, but had purchased the Diamondback binoculars and have been happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vastly exceeded my expectations! I bought this to use as a spotting scope for archery, and it works better than any that I have ever used! The view is crisp and clean, and the focus works fantastically. As a test when I got this scope, I decided to point it at the brightest star in the sky, to see if I could focus on something that far out. Turns out, I found Jupiter! You could clearly see the planet with 4 of its moons. Recently, I decided to look for Saturn, since the orbits were more or less aligned and after some searching, I found it! I was pretty skeptical about being able to view something so far out, but you could clearly see that it was Saturn and its rings! I would recommend this scope to anyone as it has so many great uses! I would add photos of my stargazing adventures, but I would have to search my phone for them :p.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable, reliable, unbeatable My first time using this or any spotting scope was this elk season. I have always just used binoculars, but sitting and watching a large open canyon with multiple draws was a perfect opportunity to try my new Diamondback 20-60x80 angled spotter, with a Vortex summit tripod. I was dialed in and ready to put an elk down! Easy adjustments, handsome looks, and that warranty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Worth The Money This is a very well made spotting scope for the price. It's crystal clear glass makes it seem high end but with an affordable price. Very durable and comes with a lifetime unlimited warranty as will all vortex products. It came with the Vortex Summit Tripod which is also durable, very lightweight and compact a must have. Overall this scope is a 10 out of 10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome spotter. I have owned one of these for a few years now. I really like the angled eyepiece as I find it more comfortable for extended glassing sessions. I was able to pick out a mule deer rack while it was nestled under a pinion pine from about a mile away. I am very impressed with the quality at this price point, and I recommend Vortex optics to anybody asking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex spotting scope Wonderful scope. Using a heavier camera tripod than what came with it. Used mostly at 100 yards for now at the 20x end. Easy to dial in adjustments for new red dots or scopes.
