I got it on sale to use with the 16mm. Wish I had gotten the version 1 when it was on sale for an even cheaper price. Well built product and takes great photos. This is my first time using a fisheye adapter and I. Am pleased with the photos from this adapter. Great add on for the 16 mm lens.

Can the shade over the front of the lens be removed? Or is there one without the shade. I have a shade ring to mount on the lens inside my underwater housing to prevent reflections from the flash. This cannot be applied with the shade on the front of the lens.
The shade is not removable. I'm not aware of a version without the shade.

question
Difference from the VCL- ECF1? Just the exterior color?
Version two is different. It can be used on an SEL16F28 and a SEL20F28 lens. Version one works only on the SEL16F28 lens.

question
How can I find a rear cap for sony VCL-ECF1 ? The regular Emount rear cap is too small
You will want to contact the manufacturer directly for a rear cap: http://bit.ly/1FAO6jI

question
What size UV filter goes with VCL-ECF2?
Hi Jay - there aren't any threads for screwing a filter onto this. A circular polarizer would cause banding on a lens this wide. For protection, just use the lens cap.

question
is there a lens filter for the 16mm or 20mm that you don't have to take of when using the VCL-ECF2?
I doubt it, at least for glass filters. The converter is obviously touchy about how far its back lens is from the front of the lens it sits on, and it has a proprietary attachment mechanism with a catch anyway. Any filter has to add some distance between the two. I use it with the 16 mm. BTW, the converter is amazing. Used it recently for some crowd+speakers shots at a big conference. I think you are asking about convenience, but if you need a special-effects of deep ND filter and you are willing to experiment, you can slip in a piece of gelatin filter sheet -- thin plastic stuff. It won't lie flat in there but should not matter because it is thin. There are also lots of special filter holders to suspend gelatin filters in front of the whole lens-converter assembly... and there is tape. Haven't played with any of that stuff for decades.

question
will it work for Sony a6000 with 16mm fixed focal length f2.8?
Yes, I believe it was specifically designed for the Sony 16 2.8 lens. I have had good luck with the converters on an aps-c camera like a6000
