When nature comes knocking in the form of water, snow, and dust, protect your camera and attached lens with the Shell Form-Fitting Rain and Dust Cover in black from Peak Design. Made from a unique stretchable fabric, the medium Shell conforms to the shape of your gear and also guards against abrasion. It has a waterproof membrane to help keep your equipment dry. Well made. Protective. But not well fitting for actual camera use.

The cover is well made, and the large does fit my Sony A7sIII with the G-master 70-200 lens. However, the camera is very hard to use while the cover is on. The cinch on the front is useful to make it stay put if you have a lens body that extends when you zoom (my sigma does this). The rear of the cover extends fully around the body. That's nice when the camera is not in use, but the back cover has to be pulled entirely up and over to view the EVF. You're basically exposing the whole body in the process.

Kind of difficult to use but at least it's not huge

This is supposed to fit my camera with any lens according to the PD website, but it's a tight fit on my a6700 and Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. I don't think this would fit with anything much larger. I do like that it's not a huge bag like other options I've tried, but it's definitely more cumbersome to use in every way. I have to uncover the entire camera body to use any of the controls, and forget using manual zoom. Even folding it up into it's own pocket is difficult and needs to be done in a very specific way. Get the job done though.

Get the medium. A7iii with 24-105 is completely unusable and a pain to even get in and out of the shell if you want to use the camera. It might as well be in a dry bag with more protection and easier access at that point. PD really needs to modify their mirrorless alpha claim for small, especially considering how large most faster Sony lenses are.

When using the Peak Design Shell Medium Form-Fitting Rain and Dust Cover (Black), BH #PESHM1, to control the camera and lens, you would need to open and pull back to gain access. There are some examples in the photos on the website.
