B+W 66-070231 Overview

  • 1Description

The B+W 62mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.8% light transmission, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters.

B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

62mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 204.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to filters Several years ago, I switched to B+W multi-coated filters. They are my standard and, in my opinion, best in class. The rings are always made of brass, screw on to all my lenses smoothly and have never been stuck on the lens (something I could not say when I was using another brand's aluminum ringed filters). The filters are multi-coated yet remain easy to clean with a drop of alcohol and a soft, lint-free, optical tissue or micro-fiber cloth. Optically, they are distortion free and I have never noted filter to filter variation in performance. After the price you paid for your lenses, why use anything less than the best for your filters?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality filter by quality brand I bought this filter for my Sigma 30mm 1.4 and it works great. It handles flare well and causes no noticeable difference in the image quality. I used to by really cheap brands, and actually I've had some good luck with Tiffen and other brands, but over time I've learned that if you take photography seriously, stick with higher end filters like Hoya and B+W and you won't regret it. The metal used is of higher quality, it doesn't get stuck on as you go from hot to cold to hot, etc, like some cheaper ones do. I really just use it for protection, you don't notice the UV blocking most of the time, but I would recommend the filter for sure. Can't think of any complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE the QUALITY!! I have this filter on my new Tamrom 18-270mm VC PZD lens. The fitment is perfect and the quality is superb! I bought this mainly as protection for my new lens. I did research on different brands and B&W is the clear choice vs. Tiffen, Hoya, etc. I'm sold on B&W and will never get any other brand. I also have another B&W filter on my 50mm lens and can say the same thing. Bottom line is, lenses are very expensive. Do NOT skimp out by not getting a filter for protection. These B&W filters are like pennies compared to the price you pay for lenses. Protect your investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I need to protect my lens! I don't use my UV lens filter to increase the quality of my photos, because lets face it nothing you put in front of your lens can be good for your photo which is why you need to get a professional quality whenever you buy one. I use it to protect my lens from dirt, scratches, and even keep me from taking the coating off of it by cleaning it over and over. I put it on and never take it off the lens cap fits right over it like it was never there and the lens filter itself is made from a heavy metal. I have an $80 polarized filter and it isn't as heavy-duty as this one. I recommend it for protecting your lens!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good addition to the lens To keep the lens protected, I always add a UV-Haze filter, but not just any one anymore. Recently I purchased 2 more B+W high performance filters from B&H to replace some good but not great ones. I keep my equipment clean yet when I took off the one filter that looked clean, I fould it to be quite dirty after cleaning it with a white cloth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quality filter I keep quality UV filters on all my lenses (that accept filters). Mainly for protecting the front element when cleaning, etc. I often shoot in dusty locations and I just prefer not cleaning the actual lens elements. I have several of these exact same B+W filters on other lenses I own and they are all consistently excellent. Great glass, nice multi-coatings and I can see no ill effects when using them as compared to the lenses without filters attached...yes, I have shot them both ways. B+W may be a bit more expensive than some brands, but they are worth it to me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expected Performance There are lots of purchases that just have to be made to take care of your equipment and this is one of them! I bought this filter to protect my new Nikkor 105mm telephoto. It is thin and has a nice knurl grip for quick changes to a polarizer -- solid product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best filters out there.... I own maybe 2 douzens filters and more than 90% of them are B+W filters. I always go for the multicoated MRC version. All my lenses have a UV MRC B+W protection filter. The manufacturing is great, filter is solid and the optics are clear. The ONLY issue with these filers is the price. For the bigger diameters (77mm and above) the price can really be an issue. Buy if you wnat the best out there or if you have a decent lens.

Is this product is a genuine b+w production? And how to know if I get the genuine one instead of a fake one?
Asked by: Anonymous
This would be a genuine B+W filter and B&H is an authorized dealer of Schneider products (which is the parent company of B+W). The filters would have a cardboard box along with a frosted plastic case on the inside.

I notice that this filter is not clear color, will this affect the night scene pictures?
Asked by: Hao
This UV haze filter is much more clear than the picture indicates and this filter is as clear as any UV haze filter I have from Hoya, Canon, or Olympus.
