Really Right Stuff LC-A14 PKG Overview

The Really Right Stuff Collar Foot Package for Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens replaces the original manufacturer's collar and foot. This replacement lowers the height of the lens and gives more support and stability when rotating the lens within the collar. This accessory also adds a double dovetail design to the foot, which is compatible with most Arca-type clamps. With a double dovetail, other Arca-type accessories can also clamp on top of the tripod foot.

The Collar Foot Package is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, and has been Type II black anodized, which makes it resistant to abrasions and corrosion. If an Arca-type clamp is not present, a 1/4"-20 threaded female socket is located on the bottom of the foot, so the lens can screw onto a tripod head.

Fantastic replacement for OEM collar & foot

This RRS Collar & Foot package for the Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6 ED VR Lens is fantastic!!! It is a great replacement for the OEM collar & foot. It definitely is a smoother collar. I put a very thin layer of Super Lube on the collar but it is not necessary. I tried the rotation with and without the lube. I was re-lubing my gimble at the time... The 2 main reasons I bought this was 1) The arca-swiss foot. Attaching an arca-swiss foot to the OEM would eventual slip/move around, no matter how tight I tried to attach it. 2) The removable foot! If hand-holding, I have the option to easily remove the foot, to be out of the way. I use this lens on my gimble or hand-held, but I can easily thread it my on my monopod or attach to my BlackRapid sling. The foot has both female threads sizes on it. When on the gimble, I can extend the lens to 500mm and the length of the foot allows me to position the lens/body so the camera is balanced properly on the gimble. Worst case, if I have to attach a longer foot, I can! I know people say RRS products are pricey. In comparison to other products, they are, but I do believe the build quality is well worth the cost.

I know a bit about tripod collars on relatively heavy sports lenses. On first line pro lenses the tripod collars are great. Great transition from any position. But cost $Thousands. The next level down are prosumer sports lenses which have a design which puts the collar near the lens mount on the camera. Two bad things happen. Excessive weight on the body lens mount and excessive wear on the collar itself. Over time these aluminum alloy collars fail and need replacement. They're not cheap anymore. I've ordered so many off shore replacements for my discontinued Sigma 120-300mm f2.8! Get this RRS collar for the N200-500. $$ look steep, but you'll absolutely never regret the difference between the cheap OEM foot and this overpriced but exquisite addition to your purchase. Well worth it.

Is there a way to connect the Peak Design Anchor Connector to the foot in such a way that doesn’t interfere with the arca Swiss dovetail being used?
Asked by: Lisa
Sure, if you were to mount the Peak Design Anchor Mount (BH #PEPLAN1) to the Really Right Stuff Collar Foot Package for Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens so that it's longest edges are parallel with the foot it should not interfere with the Arca-Swiss dovetail.

The Really Right Stuff Collar Foot Package for Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens does not fit the Nikon 180-600mm lens. Currently no one makes a replacement foot or collar for the Nikon 180-600mm lens but Kirk will be releasing one soon.

Will this work on the new Canon RF 800mm f11 lens?
Asked by: Tim
This is made specifically for the Nikon lens. This will not work on the Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM Lens. Unfortunately currently there isn't a tripod collar or foot for that Canon lens.
