Designed as a stereo, dual-mono, and mid/side 3-band parametric EQ, the Cranborne Audio Carnaby HE2 HarmonicEQ builds upon the company's groundbreaking Carnaby 500 EQ Module, delivering the same harmonically enriched EQ effects, but in a 2-channel, 2 RU rackmount unit. The unique HarmonicEQ circuit employs harmonic saturation for boosting or cutting frequency content, allowing you to enrich your sources, stems, and mixes with authentic harmonic saturation, while providing the feel, familiarity, and control akin to an equalizer.
The Carnaby HE2 is equipped with bypassable 1/4" TRS insert on each of its two channels to connect outboard hardware before your signal hits the HarmonicEQ processing. An additional 2-band shaping EQ extends HF- and LF-shaping possibilities. With the Control plug-in, the unit can be fully controlled via USB or network options, allowing for convenient real-time adjustments and recall from within your DAW. The Carnaby HE2 features an intuitive interface with digital encoders and LED rings to ensure that any remote-control operation is reflected on the unit's front panel.
HI Band
- The HI band has a frequency range from 5 to 25 kHz and uses smooth saturation to naturally extend high frequencies beyond the audio band for ultimate air and breath on vocals and acoustic instruments.
LO Band
- The LO band has a frequency range of 420 down to 20 Hz and uses hard-clipping saturation to extend sub-harmonic frequencies into the audible low-end—perfect for subtle low-end warming or extreme sub-harmonic saturation.
MID Band
- The MID band is a peaking filter with a fixed Q and a wide sweepable frequency range from 200 Hz up to 6.2 kHz. It uses saturation to add harmonic emphasis to the source anywhere in the frequency range.
Dynamic Response
- Carnaby HE2 has a dynamic response that increases in total boost/cut and harmonics as the circuits are driven harder. An Input and Output level control on each band allows for ±20 dB of level adjustment, enabling you to drive Carnaby HE2 harder with the input control for more saturation and distortion effects, or back it off for a cleaner EQ when needed.
- Carnaby HE2 takes control to a whole new level allowing all buttons and controls of the unit to be adjusted remotely via USB or an Ethernet network.
- The company's Control Plug-in seamlessly integrates with the Carnaby HE2 hardware via the USB or NET ports, allowing for convenient real-time control and recall from within your DAW. It also facilitates the independent saving and loading of presets.
- Especially valuable for mastering, mixing, and sound-design applications, Carnaby HE2's mid/side processing allows you to apply HarmonicEQ to the separate mid (center) and side (stereo width) components of your stereo signal. No additional hardware is needed, Carnaby HE2 takes care of all the necessary encoding and decoding.
