Sony FE 16-25mm f/2.8 G Reviews
Sharpness and bokeh NOT at GM or prime lens level
The reviewers on YouTube love this lens and I'm the only person to rate this lens less than #4, but well... I did return it. I was hoping to replace my Sony 20mm f/1.8 lens with this 16-25mm f/2.5 zoom. Wide open the zoom was not as sharp as I expected, and in many situations the bokeh was actually quite rough. Comparing it to my Sony 20mm f/1.8 lens, the prime is quite a bit sharper at 20mm even at f/1.8, and the bokeh is creamier even at the very same f/2.8. The 16-25mm is not in the same league as the prime, which you might feel is an unfair comparison, but rough bokeh in 2026 even for a zoom is not acceptable IMHO. I cannot rule out unit to unit variation as the problem of course. I wanted to love the lens and did not even like it. PLEASE do try it for yourself, as my reaction to the lens seems to be quite unusual.
Great lens for realestate photography and low light
Great lens. Bought for realestate photography, and to have a wife lens for wedding photography. Which also thirds as a low-light lens. Sometimes you get into situations where you don't have a lot of room for group photos in a tight spot, and this thing solves that problem as well!
