All Business: The NUC 8 Business Mini Desktop Computer

Performance computing no longer requires the physical footprint it used to, and systems have shrunk accordingly. Intel® is no newcomer to the game, with plenty of NUC options, both barebones and prebuilt; however, some, like the NUC8I7HNKQC NUC 8 Business Mini PC pack deceptively powerful hardware in its compact chassis. While the box is roughly the size of standard A4 paper, the unit itself is small enough that you can hold it in one hand.

Specs-wise, it’s equipped with a 3.1 GHz Intel® Core™ i7-8705G quad-core processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD. The Core™ i7-8705G is a unique processor, featuring a partnership with AMD for Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics, which is far more capable than Intel’s integrated graphics unit. With these parts combined, this NUC can tackle demanding applications like 360-degree video editing and rendering, CAD workloads, and even gaming on your downtime. Users can also take advantage of this two-GPU setup by tasking the integrated GPU for livestreaming gameplay while the main Vega unit handles the core graphics processing.

Aside from performance, the NUC is also packed with a wide variety of connectivity options including an SDXC card reader, Gigabit LAN, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, Thunderbolt™ 3, USB Type-A and Type-C, as well as HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs. Expansion options may be limited due to its compact design, but do you think a single Intel® NUC can replace both your work and play systems?
