It’s that time of the year when ASUS announces a slew of new motherboards designed for the creative, the gamer, and everything else between. Taking their already familiar family of motherboards and redeveloping it into a more streamlined delivery, ASUS optimizes performance at every level for both AMD and Intel processors. Let’s take a look at what ASUS is delivering in 2025!
PRIME
First, we have ASUS’s PRIME series motherboards with the PRIME B840-PLUS WIFI and PRIME B860-PLUS WIFI for AMD Ryzen and Intel Core Ultra processors, respectively. Both offer vast connectivity options with support up to 192GB of DDR5 memory, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5 Gigabit LAN, high-quality audio, and more.
The main differences between the two, aside from the respective processors, lie within the finer details. For AMD Ryzen users, the PRIME B840-PLUS WIFI supports up to PCIe 4.0 technology across the expansion slots and M.2 storage slots. It also offers USB 2.0, 3.2 Gen 1, and 3.2 Gen 2 ports across the back panel and internal headers.
Meanwhile, the PRIME B860-PLUS WIFI supports PCIe 5.0 technology for the expansion slots and the M.2 interfaces. Not only that, but the PRIME B860-PLUS WIFI includes support for USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, which offers up to 20 Gb/s data transfer speeds, essential for those who need to quickly manage data between devices.
Aside from those key differences, both motherboards offer a wide range of troubleshooting capabilities while leveraging ASUS’ Q-Design technologies to assist with potential issues. They also come equipped with large heatsinks, solid PCB layouts, and solid pin connectors for your power cables. This all makes the PRIME series motherboards great for entry-level builders and those who don’t need immense power or connectivity options.
TUF GAMING
Those looking to expand into the world of games or creatives looking for more power can find both in the ASUS TUF GAMING lineup. Featuring a rugged style with ample connectivity options, thermal enhancements, and more, the TUF GAMING family delivers! With support for both AMD and Intel processors, you have plenty of options to choose from.
For Intel Core Ultra processors, we have the TUF GAMING B860-PLUS WIFI and TUF GAMING B860M-PLUS WIFI, sporting full ATX and M-ATX form factors, respectively. Both support up to 192GB of DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 technology across the expansion slots and three M.2 storage interfaces, Wi-Fi 7, 2.5 Gigabit LAN, and more! The only difference between each form factor is the amount of PCIe expansion slots available, as the B860 has three while the B860M has two.
Those with AMD processors get similar layouts with the full-sized ATX TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI and smaller M-ATX TUF GAMING B850M-PLUS WIFI. Both of these are compatible with AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000, and 9000 series processors, support up to 192GB of DDR5 memory, and features PCIe 5.0 technology. The B850 offers five expansion slots and supports Wi-Fi 7 while the B850M has three expansion slots and Wi-Fi 6E.
Republic of Gamers (ROG)
Combining power and aesthetics, the Republic of Gamers (ROG) line has embraced the style without compromising performance. There are multiple designs and flourishes that will seamlessly blend in with your design.
For AMD users, we have the ROG STRIX B850-F GAMING WIFI which sports a sleek black finish while the ROG STRIX B850-A GAMING WIFI comes in white. Both offer support for 192GB of DDR5 RAM, PCIe 5.0 expansion slots and M.2 storage interfaces, Wi-Fi 7, and a variety of USB ports from 2.0 to 3.2 Gen 2x2. You also get ROG SupremeFX 7.1 surround sound with high-definition audio for greater audio immersion.
If you are planning a smaller system, the ROG STRIX B850-I GAMING WIFI offers vast performance in a smaller footprint. Two DIMM slots support up to 96GB of DDR5 memory while PCIe 5.0 technology empowers the single expansion slot and dual M.2 storage interfaces. Despite its reduced size, the motherboard still offers several USB ports with two USB 2.0, five USB 3.2 Gen 2, and one USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port. Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5 Gigabit LAN networking protocols are built into the motherboard, allowing you to quickly download and upload content.
ASUS also announced the ROG STRIX B860-I GAMING WIFI, which is a Mini-ITX motherboard that fits in smaller cases, just like the previously mentioned model. It also has two DIMM slots to support up to 96GB of DDR5 memory with PCIe 5.0 support for the single expansion slot and dual M.2 storage interfaces. Wi-Fi 7, 2.5 Gigabit LAN, and Thunderbolt 4 technologies are also included.
It is easy to see that no matter what kind of system you are building or parts you are replacing, ASUS has something to offer everyone from the beginner builder to the power-demanding gaming enthusiasts.
