AMD’s Ryzen-series processors have been a hit with consumers and now they’ve made their way into laptops like the ASUS TUF Gaming A15. Configurable with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics, the A15 can tackle everything from your typical everyday tasks to running graphically demanding games. Additionally, select models are equipped with a 144Hz Full HD IPS display for fast and fluid gaming that’s especially important in action games, racing games, and FPS (First-Person Shooters). While NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 20-series graphics cards feature Ray-Tracing technology for realistic lighting and shadows, users can skip the premium if they’re not interested with more conservative models that have a GTX 1660 Ti or GTX 1650 Ti. Rounding out its performance is up to 32GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM, and varying user-upgradable storage options including NVMe M.2 SSDs or a more traditional SATA hard drive.
As part of its TUF Gaming lineup, the A15 is built with portability and durability in mind. Having undergone rigorous military-grade MIL-STD-810H testing, it’s dependable and can withstand the typical wear-and-tear of daily use, as well as challenging environments. When equipped with a 90Wh battery, it can provide users with up to almost 9 hours of web browsing or 12 hours of video playback. Other integrated features include USB Type-A and Type-C ports, an HDMI port, and the standard assortment of a combo audio jack, webcam, microphone, and speakers. There’s also a RJ45 jack and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for connecting to the Internet, and Bluetooth 5.0 for pairing compatible devices and peripherals. Like most gaming systems, the A15 has customizable RGB lighting. What are your thoughts on a Ryzen-powered laptop? Think it can hold its own against the competition?
