Over the past few years, 3D printing technology has grown and taken the world by storm, and it is now possible to create advanced types of 3D prints, such as artificial limbs. As the 3D printing revolution continues to “forge” its way into new territory, Flashforge recently introduced several new 3D printers, each of which has been designed for a specific user base and comes equipped with differing features that make them well suited for unique environments and tasks.
For children and beginners who are looking to venture into 3D printing, the Flashforge Inventor II 3D Printer puts safety first with an intelligent door sensor that automatically stops printing when the door is opened, while the print head is enclosed to help protect prying hands from its heat. It allows for build volumes of up to 5.9 x 5.5 x 5.5", which is suitable for beginners, and its layer resolution of 50-400 microns gives users the options to create objects with details ranging from fine to coarse using 1.75mm PLA filament and a single extruder nozzle. Compatible file types may be sent to the printer using wired USB connectivity, Wi-Fi, or an SD card.
Extreme hobbyists and prosumers may want to consider the Flashforge Guider II 3D Printer, which provides an increased build volume of 11.0 x 9.8 x 11.8", a layer resolution of 100-200 microns, and compatibility with ABS, PLA, and specialty filaments that are fed through a single 0.4mm nozzle. System operations are controlled using a 5" color IPS touchscreen, and files can be printed using USB connectivity, a USB dongle, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.
It is a given that ABS and PLA filaments each of pros and cons of use. To help combat the cons, the Flashforge Inventor Dual Extrusion 3D Printer features five cooling fans and a sensor that regulates the temperature of the enclosed 9.1 x 5.9 x 6.3" build chamber, thus helping to enhance print quality of compatible 1.75mm filaments. In the case of a power outage, a “resume print” feature helps ensure you won’t need to start over, and dual print extruders allow for layer resolutions of up to 50 microns. Using a built-in camera allows for prints, which are created using wired USB connectivity, Wi-Fi, or an SD card, to be monitored using a mobile app. This printer is controlled using a color touchscreen.
For those who want to do a complete 180° and get away from filament-based 3D printing, the Flashforge Hunter DLP Resin 3D Printer uses digital light processing (DLP) that takes advantage of additive manufacturing technology. It can create prints with layer resolutions of 12.5, 25, and 50 microns and prints from its aluminum resin tray with pre-installed vat film that supports multiple types of resin. It is powered by an 800 MHz Dual-Core processor, a Full HD 1080p light engine with a 405nm LED, a touchscreen LCD, and prints using wired USB connectivity, a USB flash drive, or Wi-Fi.
All Flashforge’s 3D print offerings are compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux, as well as Flashforge’s FlashPrint software. Given the wide selection of features, OS compatibility, and printing software, Flashforge has created 3D printers for any type of user.
