HP announced its new OMEN and Spectre laptops at CES 2024. Designed for high-performance gaming, creatives, and professionals, these systems feature Local AI support with dynamic refresh rates, refined low-light adjustment, automatic background blur and framing, built-in power optimization to help save battery life and maximize performance, and privacy alerts that let you know when someone else is looking at your display. Aside from these AI improvements, HP built these systems with configuration options that include powerful processing, large RAM loadouts, fast SSD storage, dedicated graphics, and OLED screens. Let’s take an in-depth look at these systems, not only to learn more about the individual configurations, but also to see which one may be right for you.

The HP OMEN Transcend 14: A Gamer’s Dream
Designed for high-performance gaming and creatives, the OMEN Transcend 14 delivers a lightweight build, providing a portable platform for those who are on the go. Measuring 0.7" thin, it can be customized with up to an Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 185H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, up to 32GB of memory, and up to 2TB of storage. Its 14" 2880 x 1800 OLED display is not only TUV+Eyesafe-certified for low blue light but also has an adaptive refresh rate of 48 to 120 Hz to better maximize output and efficiency. The display is further backed by ultra-wide viewing angles, VESA True Black HDR 400 certification, 100% DCI-P3 gamut coverage, and more.
The OMEN Transcend 16: Elevate Your Performance
Hardcore gamers and creative professionals will appreciate the OMEN Transcend 16, with its larger 16" 2880 x 1600 OLED display. It is equipped with up to a 14th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-14900HX processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, up to 32GB of memory, and up to 2TB of storage, depending on your configuration. It also comes standard with IPS technology, low blue light, 400 nits of brightness, and an anti-glare panel, but may be upgraded with a 0.2 ms response time, VRR support, TUV+Eyesafe low blue light, VESA True Black HDR, and greater brightness.
The Spectre x360 14: Compact and Adaptive
Designed for creatives and professionals who need a bit of everything, one of the biggest additions to the Spectre x360 14 is its NPU (Neural Processing Unit), which helps your device learn and adapt to your needs, style, and work environment. Specs-wise, it can be configured with up to an Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 155H and Intel® Arc™ graphics, plus up to 32GB of memory and 2TB of storage, all of which ensure you can keep up with heavy workloads and the latest games. Its 14" 2880 x 1800 OLED display also delivers clear and consistent visuals, a fast 0.2 ms response time, VRR that adjusts from 48 to 120 Hz, a BrightView panel with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, VESA True Black HDR, TUV+Eyesafe, and more.
The Spectre x360 16: Boost Your Visual Potential
Much like its little sibling, the Spectre x360 16 also features the NPU and a 2880 x 1800 OLED panel with the same dynamic refresh rate and response time. It may also be configured with up to 32GB of memory and 2TB of storage. However, it does upgrade the size of the panel to 16" for greater on-screen real estate and may also be configured with up to an Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 155H and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics for more complex and heavy-duty tasks. With the dedicated GPU comes NVIDIA Studio and G-SYNC, which helps to further reduce stuttering and tearing by syncing the display’s frame rate to that of the GPU.
