Built as a shared storage solution for small- to mid-sized workgroups and businesses, Promise Technology’s Atlas S8+ 8-Bay NAS Server comes pre-configured with four Gigabit Ethernet ports and one 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt™ 3 port, in capacities of 32TB (8 x 4TB), 64TB (8 x 8TB), and 80TB (8 x 10TB). It is also available with four Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports with the same storage configurations of 32GB (8 x 4TB), 64TB (8 x 8TB), and 80TB (8 x 10TB). No matter which storage or interface configuration you select, this NAS is well-suited for rich media and IT professionals who need enterprise-class data services and features, such as data encryption, user-friendly setup and management, and local and cloud backups. It is virtualization-ready and certified for VMWare, Citrix, and Hyper-V.
The Atlas S8+ supports Windows, Mac, Linux, and UNIX, and can handle multiple clients running applications such as Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Creative Cloud, Autodesk Smoke, and more. If you’d like faster performance, add your own SSD for improved response times with the included “flash cache” feature. Other connectivity options include five USB 3.0 Type-A ports and one HDMI port, while supported RAID modes include RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60, each of which offers performance gains, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require a RAID, take advantage of JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks), which allows each drive to be utilized independently. This array is driven by a 2.7 GHz Intel® Core™ i5 Quad-Core processor with 16GB of DDR4 memory, which may be upgraded to 32GB, making it a well-rounded piece of gear for your daily operations.
Are you a fan of Atlas? Do you use any of their other RAID arrays? Are you looking forward to the S8+? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
