Feature-loaded doesn’t begin to describe LG’s impressive 65" G6P-series UHD TV. For starters, this TV has native UHD 4K resolution, allowing you to enjoy your favorite box-office blockbusters in vivid detail. It will also maximize your movies’ color quality with HDR, which reduces color banding, thanks to a widened color gamut compared to non-HDR TVs. Of course, said movies would have to have been recorded in 4K and HDR and played back with a compatible source, such as an HDR 4K Blu-ray player, but you already knew that.
This G6P-series TV is also a smart TV with built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, which gives you the option of going wireless or saving your Wi-Fi bandwidth for streaming YouTube to the kids’ tablets. It offers access to the LG Content Store for your favorite apps, plus a full Web browser, so you can enjoy everything the Internet has to offer. It will even stream directly from your compatible smartphone or tablet, so you can enjoy your photos, videos, and more on the big screen.
Last, but certainly not least, this TV has an OLED panel, which as I’ve discussed in the explora article LG OLED TVs: The Next Step in TV Evolution, will give you the highest contrast ratio possible because the pixels generate their own light; pixels that should appear black will simply remain off while the rest do their own thing. This technology opened up quite a few design possibilities, which LG took full advantage of; the display panel is applied directly to the glass back panel for a super-slim profile. How slim? 5.77mm at its thinnest, which translates to 0.227", or less than ¼". LG accomplished this by building the input panel into the base, which flips back to double as its wall-mount interface. While this means it won’t be as flush against the wall as some less-slim TVs, it’s still impressively slim.
